I'm trying to figure out what to change, what I'm doing wrong etc...
For the past couple days we've literally had barely a dozen posts. Not new topics, posts. I sent PM's to all our active members about our new Facebook page and only a couple members have posted over there. What can I do to make EC more interesting to people? I'm kinda at my wits end here because there are two new Elantra models just released and you'd think this place would be hopping but it's comatose. It's mega frustrating. -------------------- |

Mitch, now that I got back into an Elantra, I am definitely feeling a new excitement and plan to be more active. That being said, for the next week things will still be crazy at work so in a week, you should see my activity level pick up. I got some new pics of the GT that I need to get posted here and plan to post on the facebook page as well

School's back in session?
As far as FB is concerned, I don't always get much of a chance to hang out there, I just post and run and if nothing's going with the EC FB page well then I won't think to actually go there and post or whatever and most of my time is from the phone and well, the FB smartphone interface leaves something to be desired so I don't delve too deep into the user experience there in that manner. But that's me. Anyone else??? -------------------- To Helena Handbasket! |

I killed off my facebook account a week ago. Too many of my fb "friends" are either self-centered attention whores, crybabies, constant gamers, or non-stop political bashers (December can't come soon enough!) that it brings my barely passable mood to uncomfortably low levels.
I say blame it on being an election season. -------------------- x

But guys, do you understand that, without activity, there's not much reason to keep EC online. I've tried for 10 years to get that message out. I turned down big time money from AutoGuide so I could keep us independent. It's hard to come here and see a handful of posts a day when we have nearly 1,000 active members (per month) according to our stats. I mean posts are easy. Good like getting product reviews or vendor ratings or DIY's etc...
I know people don't view this like I do. EC is one of many, many sites you visit/belong to; it's understandable you don't share my pride/passion for this place. I guess I'm getting tired of seeing this place not live up to what it could be. I do my best and we have a very small core of people who also try hard to better this place. I just can't get through to the majority of members that a site like this should be very important if you own an Elantra. Not just as a place to view and lurk but a place to add to and interact. I don't have things easy in real life. I'm not going to rehash my woes. Coming here and seeing this place flounder is depressing as hell to me. If it was a garbage site that wasn't maintained, I'd understand why there's little activity. But I know EC is a good site. It's bewildering. Sadly, even my hand-picked group of moderators rarely drive activity. It's not a good situation at all. -------------------- |

I'll admit, I'm here every day and moat of the time I'm on my phone. I would post more, but I have a crazy array of classes, community service, work, and projects/homework/labs. I do feel guilty, but honestly, I've been.neglecting all of the forums I'm apart of because my schedule is so wonky. ): I am here every day and read all of the posts., though.

I'm trying to get on here as often as I can. With school I'm usually at school from 9am to 11pm (sometimes less). So i'm not as active as I use to be. I know a lot of people are starting school too.
I also wish more people would be active to keep this place going. -------------------- A proud member of the club.

I tend to stray away from the threads that get too in depth about things that I have no idea about because I don't know what I'm talking about. I like to greet new members and help others with the basic things I know

I know for me it does depend on how things are at work. If it's slow as anything at my stationed company, I ask for additional work so I don't get questioned for not doing anything all day.. tracked by tickets. That means that I'm out of the office running around doing all these random tasks.
If it's busy, that means I've got tickets and work to do. But usually that means that there will be time that I'm sitting waiting for tasks to finish (installing programs, updates, imaging). So that's where my lurking time comes in. I'm getting better at managing my time, but there's always curve-balls. The past week has been filled with running around for the house projects we did on the weekend. So now that they're done I have a desk filled with a pile of stuff I need to sort through before I can see my main computer. It's tough coming up with new topics on an older car. Some days I wish it'd just die so I could get a new one and have more passion/interest. My main interest is getting the carpc back in and working, and looking decent and finished. Then I'll get to finishing other projects. -------------------- carPC Build Thread | My Elantra Site | My Fiero Site | My WebSite | Donate here to keep ElantraClub online and growing. |

Have you ever been at a party or in a restaurant and suddenly it gets quiet for no apparent reason, then conversations pick up again? It happens.

Have you ever been at a party or in a restaurant and suddenly it gets quiet for no apparent reason, then conversations pick up again? It happens. The problem is, there used to be a raucous, fun crowd here that gave the place the feel of a crowded local hangout. Well the place expanded into the space next door, added a cool patio, upgraded the lights and sound, and the cook now makes some awesome food, but the clientele is not as plentiful, not nearly as loud and fun, and we don't have the strong loyal crowd we used to have. How do you bring new people into the place, and how do you cultivate that passionate, enthusiastic atmosphere again? -Roy -------------------- |
