yea I'm waiting for the day when I get a CEL that says my flexpipe is bad. The metal weave is barely hanging on.

I don't want to get all James May on you guys here, but "hydraulic engine mounts," was listed as a feature on the XD. My car's gotten a handful of comments like "wow, is the engine running?" because it's so quiet and NVH-free at idle. Maybe I don't know what I'm missing in terms of throttle response and shift precision (and exhaust flex pipe durability) but... is it worth it? My wife was just test-driving various models and noticed idle NVH like steering wheel vibration as a negative on some model (Spectra) and lack of it as a positive (Elantras) - there is some sacrifice.

This is really a love / hate mod.
the improvement over the broken/worn mount is great, the extra response/stability over the day I got the car is great. But that engine vibration is gonna be annoying a bunch of the time. With the engine not being able to twist with the initial torque, that power is being put directly to the wheels. It looks a little wet out today, we'll see if this really does help with wet wheel hop. I definitely don't see any hydraulic setup for engine mounts on mine. They all seem fairly round and rubber-like. the only engine mounts that i know be hydraulic are the Veracruz and the Santa fe....but that essentially uses the vacuum from the motor to stiffen up the mount works well.
you can also get an engine damper from Mahnoroy (sp? sorry) that will also help but wont be as harsh as a poly mount -------------------- |

Maybe the rubber is liquid-filled and that's what they call hydraulic? It's mentioned in Car & Driver's review, Canadian Driver, Yahoo, Edmunds IL... they must've read it on a spec sheet somewhere.

Good write up. My rear mount looks a lot like the one your pulled out. one of the legs ripped completely and another 2 on their way out. I'll most likely do the diy poly mount. I would of did it this past weekend, but I didn't have the time.
