This was my first attempt at using Plasti Dip. I've known I wanted to do this since I purchased the car. To me it looks much better. Share your thoughts.

Thank you all for the compliments. Plasti Dip is not quite the product I thought it was. The black shows fingerprints and appears to almost leave a skin cell smear/trail if you swipe your finger on it. A soft cotton rag with some mild cleaner (Windex multi-surface) did the same. But since I now know what it looks like, I plan on visiting a local body shop to get a paint quote. For mock-up Plasti Dip is great; for anything semi-permanent, not at all. Maybe my results would have been better if I had top-coated with glossifier.

certainly would have been better if you topcoated it. you don't necessarily need the glossifier - you can also use a matte clear enamel.

Looks good.
If you want to paint it, I would do it yourself. There are many paint places online that provide automobile paint in cans. (like How I fixed my curb rash) -------------------- A proud member of the Elantra club.

Because I had to get a clean 'paint' line, I laid 1 heavy coat on it so that I could pull off the masking without removing the material. The sedan bumper doesn't have an edge to tear at like the coupe or GT so it must be done wet.
I can't paint myself because I don't have a garage. If I did try, I would surely spend hours sanding out the bugs in this gnat & mosquito capital that we call Florida. Using a clear enamel topcoat would yield the same result. -------------------- |
