On March 18th i ordered a pair of HID look replacement bulbs for my low beams hoping to get a noticeable difference. The item arrived yesterday and cost me roughly $27 including shipping from ebay. Here is a link for the product info:
8500K HID Look Replacement BulbsI installed them at night so i could visually see the difference right away and i was quite satisfied, definitely worth the $27 i invested. They do not look exactly like HID's but their appearance is great none the less. You will see in my photos that my headlights are not level because i just put everything back in quickly, will fix it the first opportunity i get. Without further delay on to the pics.

I just located the puddle lamp pins today on a lengthy installation of power folding KDM mirrors with puddle lamps and a power folding mirror door switch addition. The above attachments (If they can be viewed-I tried inserting them but it doesn't seem to work-sorry) should show the pin locations for the power fold mirror control module, power fold mirror connector and attachment locations for left and right turn signals. If the photos are confusing, here's the pin locations by connector:
on BCM (body control module under dash) 1. CONNECTOR LABELED "E-FRONT" WIRE LOCATION ON RIGHT SIDE OF CONNECTOR, #16 DOWN FROM TOP IS RIGHT TURN SIGNAL TO BE WIRED DIRECTLY TO PIN #11 ON RIGHT POWER FOLD MIRROR CONNECTOR.
2. CONNECTOR LABELED "B-FLOOR" WIRE LOCATION ON RIGHT SIDE OF CONNECTOR, #6 DOWN FROM TOP IS WIRED DIRECTLY TO PIN #11 ON LEFT-DRIVER SIDE POWER FOLD MIRROR CONNECTOR. (Confirm voltage scrolls up and down completely on these pins as it should while turn signals are activated.)
3. For educational purposes, the power fold mirror wires already wired with factory wire harness is:
1+2+3 = MIRROR GLASS DIRECTIONS-UP, DOWN, LEFT AND RIGHT.
4+5 ARE OPEN CONNECTIONS-NO PINS OR WIRES THERE.
6= MIRROR HEATER
12=GROUND-BLACK WIRE
4. ADD THE FOLLOWING WIRES:
7+8 =FOLD-UNFOLD-YOU MAY HAVE TO SWAP BACK AND FORTH TO DETERMINE WHICH IS WHICH.
9=+ FOR PUDDLE LAMP
10= - FOR PUDDLE LAMP
11= TURN SIGNAL
5. POWER DOOR MIRROR SWITCH CONNECTOR A:
8+9 ARE FOLD-UNFOLD-AGAIN MAY HAVE TO SWITCH BACK AND FORTH TO DETERMINE WHICH IS WHICH.
My audio specialist hooked up relays for the fold unfold functions so the relays are always on when ACC is on so I can fold and unfold the mirrors with the car ACC on-I want to have the ability to fold my mirrors in while backing or pulling into my garage.
6. As I just determined what pins are for the puddle lamps today, I've yet to wire them up-I will need to run one more wire to the left and right mirrors as there was only one for each mirror as we somehow brain freezed up on how many wires the puddle lamps would work on-There is currently a wire coming off of the power from my map lights and we planned on doing a relay to the puddle lamps as the dome lights are triggered on a negative trigger.
I hope this helps everyone installing the KDM power folding mirrors with power fold switch on their Elantra MD's.

It's hard to find intakes for the 2011+ Elantras. Anyone know if the piping matches that of another model, like the Veloster for instance? I'm just trying to find an inexpensive intake because all I really need is the piping to fit and I will replace the filter with a higher performance one.

Hi,
Just joined a couple of weeks ago, and just been reviewing the different posts about
working on the car. I want to add some soundproofing inside the front doors. Mine is a
2013 GLS, M/T, black. I removed the door panel without any problem. There is a second
panel attached to the door with sheet metal screws. However, there are 2 clips that are holding
that panel in place. I've pulled on the panel fairly hard, but those clips won't
release. Before I break something, how do I release those clips. On the panel,
there is a hole where the clip is, with a small tab, and an X on either side of the hole.

I have been thinking about smoking my tail lights lately, using the plastidip smoke product. Looking over my car, I started to realize how much I dislike the big orange turn signal part of the upper head lights. I don't want do smoke the entire head light though, would it work to tape it off and just smoke the orange part of it?

I have a 2012 Elantra Limited. I was VERY unhappy with the suspension on our rough Michigan roads. The back end was very 'hoppy' with a distinct shift to the right when going over the never-ending bumps/joints in our Michigan freeways. I have driven hondas and subarus and never had a vehicle feel so skittish on rough roads - downright scary - especially when you combine the handling with slippery road conditions.
Based on some good posts here, I chose to take the relatively inexpensive upgrade of the rear shocks (KYB Gas-A-Just) ordered from Parts Geek. Just had them installed today. WHAT A DIFFERENCE. Seriously. Dramatically reduced bounce on bumps. Eliminated the 'pull to the right' on bumps. Quieter. Etc..
Now I'm wondering if I should upgrade the front suspension (struts?) as well...
In summary, if you're not happy with the handling of your 2011+ Elantra, I'd encourage you to make the simple upgrade to the KYBs.

Ultra Racing is the only company I know of that has a full line of chassi stiffening parts for the MD. I'm really tempted into getting the rear sway bar. Has anybody here purchased it already or any of their products?

Had some leftover plastidip and decided to experiment with the bumper and imitate a rear diffuser. The rear diffuser is not that clean but the beauty of plastidip is I can peel it off and redo it as many times as I want, and if I don't like the look anymore I could peel it right off.
Bottom chrome grille was dipped a few weeks ago.

took out the stock airbox lid and filter and stuck on a cone filter i had laying around. i had to cut up a piece of plastic to go between the filter and tube since they were the same size. so far im loving it! no idea if i gained any power but the sound is nice which was what i was after. i still want to find something to plug up the extra tube resonator, will be checking lowes to see what i can find. i am also going to take off the cold air tube so that cold air shoots straight at the filter.

I just bought my 2013 Elantra Limited about a month ago and I love it.
BUT, I'd love to know if there is a drop-in headlamp replacement that includes a Audi style LED. I saw some
stuff on eBay for about $325, but it's for the pre-2011 models and I'm, looking for something for a '13.
Any ideas?

Hello everyone! I want to buy coilovers for my 2012 GLS and I have some questions about it! I never have these before and I want to know if it's easy to adjust the height? We have winter here in québec so I need to adjust it 2 times a years! Can I buy only the coilover kit and everything is ok or I need something else like a camber kit or pillow ball mounts? Do I have to realign the wheels after the adjustment is done? Is there something I need to know before I do this mod on my car? Thanks a lot!
P.S.: Sorry for my poor english! I speak french so...

My car is currently getting the paint touched up . The side piece , quarter panel front driver's side and front bumper had to be repainted . New grill , rear sticker along bumper , and new brakes and painted calipers ( black ) . It will be in the Buffalo Motorama this weekend . My first competitive show . I'll probably just go on Sunday near the end of it .

Thinking that I needed to buy a 2nd set of handle overlays for one piece I needed I found out after the fact that the piece I need does indeed come with the kit . So now I'll have a set that I obviously don't need . If anyone is interested in them let me know . I just bought them yesterday and didn't get them in the mail yet so it will be a few weeks before I get them . I'm hoping I can just cancel the order though .
( order has been canceled )

So, I did these things last Thursday, Friday and Saturday just before the meet and haven't had time to post some pics with all that's going on, but here goes.
Roof -- I used ScotchPrint 1080 black gloss vinyl on sale at stickercity.com. This is actually the second time I did this. The first time (about a month and a half ago), it just plain sucked. First, some pollen from a nearby tree got underneath while working and created bumps that I couldn't remove. Second, I stretched it too much and the color was inconsistent. Anyway, this time it was much better. I worked front-to-back this time instead of middle-out.
Window tint -- Got a Groupon for a local shop to have four windows done for $80. Paid another $80 for the rear window, so $160 not bad. Guy said he was out of his cheaper stuff, so I got his "professional" stuff. I think it was Llumar brand. Anyway, it looks nice. I saw a Sonata there when I first went that had 35 all around and even in the bright sun I thought it looked dark enough, so I got 35 on the sides and 20 in the rear. Driving into the city all the time, I really don't want to take a chance with LE, so I chickened out of the 20-sides-5-rear idea. People at the meet thought it looked dark for 35.
Definned -- Not using XM and the fin was going to be hard to cover, so I definned it. I like it better, personally. I created a small, keyhole sized piece of wood covered with a few layers of vinyl (and then ultimately covered by the roof vinyl) to cover the holes since the sheet metal was not completely flat after removing the fin. It's subtle and looks like it could be something OEM.
Plasti-dipped the grille as described in another thread. This is a redux, and will probably be followed by another redux in which I'll paint the upper and lower grilles with actual gloss paint and cover the metal part between with gloss black vinyl.
Fog lights -- got the fog lights installed with yellow tint from stickercity.com (also on sale). This is really thick stuff like the lamin-x seems to be.
Fog light embellishments -- bought these on eBay a couple of months ago. They were flat black and I painted them gloss black.
