take it from somebody who has spent (i mean wasted) crazy amount of time doing electronics on these) RUN AWAY!!!!
first off its a mitsubishi motor and electronics...which means it sucks! doing a timing belt on requires 8 hours worth of work and if the cam gear slips while your working on it...bye bye cylinder heads (they have two cam gears on each head rater then one like a hyundai motor so they are under tension and if you dont have them lined up perfectly...slip and bang...and timing them is a beeotch!) the airbag system almost always fails on the passengerside airbag, the electronic throttle body is junk and fails. doing basic maintence like changing out the plugs is a pita (the amount of vacuum hoses is rediculous and it uses and EGR valve (which fails quite often) the air conditioner compressor is also mitsu and fails quite often and the condensor and evaporator leak quite often. shocks and junk (hyundai, but they are crap) there are a couple of tsb's about them being noisy and rouch...or just complete failure. these are all things that I HAVE PERSONALLY done to MANY XG's over the years....i would stay very far away. -------------------- |

wow... did the KIA Amanti (or is it Avanti?) suffer the same fate? Hey SLOW, why you looking at OLD MAN cars? For crying out loud man... get something SPORTY!!!! My wife harrassed me enough when I had my 2000 Camry .... tooting it as an OLD MAN car (yes it looked like one), but I only got it because it was suppose to be a practical FAMILY vehicle. Anyway, its gone now...

That was also Hyundai's first TBW car (Throttle By Wire). They lag both getting on and off the throttle was absolutely ridiculous. The 3.5 ws a gas hog, a bitch to work on and at 71k miles is past due for a t-belt.

^yeah it was as a company...but NOT hyundais...the first HYUNDAI one was the NF sonata...and they had a problem because they are using Delphi instead of siemens.

and made him a Ford truck dude. Ken -------------------- R.I.P. my love Shelley K.
