I bought some cheap vinyl smoke tint for my taillights on Ebay. I didn't want to buy the expensive stuff because I wasn't sure if I'd like the result and didn't want to spend $50 on Lamin-x pre-cut that I might not like. The Ebay stuff cost me $11. The tint is a light smoke that blocks maybe 10-15% of the light. I didn't want to go too dark and I think this almost looks stock but sexier. Here's a quickie cell pic I just took. Keep in mind on a sunny day they would look a bit brighter. Let me know if you like.

Kate, it's actually fairly noticeable (subtly), just not smoked out. You can really see a big difference in the back-up light. cool.gif

Here's my car on the day I took it home (a cloudy day):

Here it is today w/the lightly smoked tails (cloudy today as well):

On another note... I'm glad I bought a little extra because getting this applied (without bubbles) over the curved part of the light takes practice.

Look nice but I think a little darker would be better.

Maybe so Lou, but, I didn't want to be pulled over by the cops or reduce the light output by much.

It's a good compromise for what I wanted to do... subtle and sleek.

Next time I wash the car, I'll post better pics with a real camera (although the Galaxy S2 ain't bad for a cellphone camera).

Mitch, that is what I like about your mods, they are always subtle.
Nothing that jumps out, but something that makes you look at the car and know something is different, but not sure what.

I like it, A LOT! Smoked has a much better look than blackout.

IMO you should ALWAYS be able to see the reflector doing its' job, and that looks like it does it nicely.
