Anyone know the dimensions/requirements for adding a hitch to the new GT? my old GT was not as wide - and the companies I've looked at thus far don't seem to have a standard option for the new GT... thanks

I want to add a trailer hitch for my bike rack. I've yet to see one. Gotta give it a few months my friend!

Well here is the one for the sedan, http://www.curtmfg.com/part/110970. Not sure if its the same but wouldn't see why not. Some one should measure to see if it will fit. Curt is the only one i have found so far.

Hey-the GT is quite a bit shorter than the sedan in the back so those hitches may or may not work on the hatchback.

When i got the hitch for my 12 Accent 5-door the installer got in a hitch for the sedan first.
There was a difference in the bracket size and the mounting holes and he had to order the hatch hitch.

He said, for the sedan hitch, he could "make it work" if i was only using it for a bike rack
but if pulling a trailer was involved then there might be problems.

The Elantra GT and sedan are different in the rear so each will have its own hitch.

You may have to wait until a manufacturer makes one up.

Don't try the wrong one.

Wow -- want one for free? Do you live near Tempe AZ? Just got this when I searched Uhaul.com for a hitch for the GT:

I also would like to add a trailer hitch to my new 2013 Elantra GT. No it will not be used to hall the 29' boat that I do not have. It will be used for a bike rack.

I added a trailer hitch to my wife's Yaris and I got it from Etrailer.com. I just called them as asked about a hitch for the GT. I informed Amy who I talked to that the car is new for 2013. She then placed me on hold and called CURT the manufacturer. The current item will not work for the GT, it is for the sedan. CURT does have a hitch for the GT in design/production. I was told an ETA of about 30-45 days.

Hope this helps the group.

Snowy.

I have a new 2013 Elantra GT GLS (I think "GLS" is the correct trim level description?) it is a base model with automatic trans.

I will be installing a model # C113141 Class 1 trailer hitch by CURT Manufacturing LLC out of EAU CLAIRE, Wis. for the purpose of towing a small light weight motorcycle trailer that I already have. I was wondering if any of your members had any experience doing this installation on a 2013 GT (?).

And along with this I will be installing a Curt model # 56146KIT (the upgraded trailer wiring harness) which requires running a 12 gage power wire from the battery in the engine compartment to the rear of the car. Any of your members done this kit? Any routing suggestions for this wire would be appreciated.
