why not ground to chassis? if power is only from button when door is open you can steal a few bits of power, ground to chassis and dont worry about the circuit.
what i would do...OR
forget about all the rigamoreau and hullabaloo and power rigbt from battery with an inline fuse and cool LED toggle switch. ground back to battery or chassis.
