Well, I've been considering plasti dipping my wheels and possibly some other parts of the car like the emblems. Still undecided what all I want to do. So my question is, how many cans would I need to plastidip my wheels? I probably wouldn't do the whole wheel black, but assuming I did how many cans do you think I would need just for that?

Also, anybody plastidip their calipers? I know I've used specific caliper paint before, but I was curious whether plastidip would work or if there was some reason it wouldn't hold up well?

Now for any creative minded folks out there with photo editing software if you have any great ideas for the stock wheels I would welcome any suggestions! I have a few ideas in mind, I just don't have any software that would allow me to put it into an image form. Paint just doesnt work very well! Here are some stock photos.

It's plastic. What does plastic do when it gets hot? Also be aware that prolonged use on plastic surfaces (bumpers/trim) it will not come off.

Personally, I loathe plastidip. I think it's the stupidest new fad since using bedliner on everything.

I used 1 1/2 when I did in between the spokes... I also did 4 layers on all 4 rims though. I say you do it!!

I would not do the calipers in plastidip though...

Yea I wasn't necessarily planning on doing plasti dip on the calipers just more curious. If I do paint them I will get the proper paint and do it correct.

This would be a slam dunk to be done I just need to figure out when I am going to have the time to do it! I've got a wedding to go to up in PA in May (so I'm taking off of work) then we're going to the beach for a week in early June. So I just gotta figure out when to do it! I might try to use my crappy paint program or some black electrical tape and give you all the idea that I have this weekend to get your perspectives. The nice thing is if I don't like it, I just peel it off! biggrin.gif

After everyone's input to be safe I probably will get 4 cans and then I know I will have enough. Now to continue my research into Plasti Dip!

Hey-the plastic chrome inserts can easily be removed from the wheels if you just want to paint them or just the wheels themselves. I'd do just the rims and then put the chrome inserts back on.

Stop by my place on your way to PA and I have two 3M kits for doing your calipers (Yellow I think...have to double check). They are yours (free) if you want to pick them up. I was going to do mine but have talked myself out of it.

Thanks. I thought they were supposed to come off easily, but haven't had the wheels off yet. Yep I am planning on keeping those chrome. Call me weird but I like chrome!

Thanks man! I did watch a few videos before, but I will be sure to look for those in particular.

I've also been thinking of using plastidip on some areas of the car.
The ruff rino liner like surface has been putting me off though.

What's this you speak of?
Since getting open rims, I've been thinking of doing something to the calipers.
