Was just wondering if there is a way to track member activity on the forums. For example, is there a way to see what percentage of the membership made posts last month? That would give us a good look at our busy seasons as well as give us a more accurate number of participants. Just idle curiosity!

Got a chance to fix the transparent edges on the club membership icons and I'll share a nifty little blog button with you all that you can feel free to use anywhere you want!
First, the stuff for the forum:
Directory Listing:
http://www.scalifash.com/bins/pictures/ec/clearedges/And then the stuff for all to use and enjoy and have fun with:
Direct Link:
http://www.idevin.com/pix/eclub.pngFeel free to link from my server directly, but keep in mind that I may decide to move the file later on.
If anyone else has any Hyundai/Elantra/Club related icons post them here so that everyone can use 'em!

It's important not to keep a bunch of old messages cluttering up your PM center. It can cause things to slow down a bit so please delete anything not needed. Thanks.

Sorry I had to take the board offline... I was installing a new board mod and had to fix a serious problem. My apologies.
The new mod is called "Similar Threads". It puts a list of similar threads from search in the topic view. The similar threads relate to the words in the topic title so the results aren't always exactly related to the current topic but it's still a neat idea.
It is open by default, but if you want to "collapse" it, click the tab on the top right of the box to minimize it and it will (or should) remember your setting. This is only one of several new features I have planned to make your forum experience even better.
Again sorry for the inconvenience in the past hour.
-Mitch
This is in the test phase and may or may not be a permanent feature.

Nope Gladys Knight and her backup singers didn't break up ...
I do however, get rid of the little blue square ranking pips. They were based on how many posts folks have made, but as Gelicious so wisely pointed out it might seem like the pips were based on knowledge and that just isn't the case. So, I've decided to give members a special icon as well! Now everyone has a team icon. Regular members will still retain the standard titles based on post count "newbie" poster pro" etc and of course subscribers have a custom title they choose.
I think this will not only look "cleaner" in posts it will be a more professional layout.
I also want to thank Devin for his help on improving the icons. (we still may change them slightly).

Actually I love my wife's GLS...

Yesterday, for the second time I went browsing the ElantraXD.com site. I searched a few topics and read some here and there. I might be opening a can of worms with what will be said but this is my first impression I got from that Club.
First of all, I was not overly impressed with the overall look. But that’s just me. Second of all, I found it rude in many ways/occasions. I saw a few posts where members got ridiculed for odd questions where the proper direction should have been said in a civilized manner. Even the club founder was rude. What really stuck out is the way they put down our club. At one instance, they laughed at some of our group buys. But some of our members defended us!
All I have to say is I see lots of posts concerning our Club there with valuable info that people are linking, I think that’s great! A good way to advertise good info!
Again, these are my thoughts and do not reflect the thoughts of this whole club. We have some fantastic members here that are members at XD. I just wanted to reflect on the impression that XD club gave me overall.
Anyways, I’m happy to be part of the ElantraClub family!

I've changed the front page forum message icons and the statistics icons. I wasn't happy with the generic "IPB" (Invision Power Board) buttons and this gives it a cleaner look overall. Just remember the dark blue means new messages and the pale blue means no new messages. Hope you like the change.

Just a suggestion
My wife thinks there should be a forum for the wifes of Elantra Owners, so they have a place to talk about how much they hate us modding the cars... hehe its a way to get more members....
what you think?

There are a few things you can do to keep things on the boards moving at a fast clip. Delete your old PM's for one thing. No reason to keep your inbox cluttered.
The other thing is to watch your sig and avatar sizes. I've seen a few members who's avatar and signatures total over 100K. Now, imagine a page filled with photos in posts and big sigs and avatars. On dial up it will take way too long to load. I suggest keeping your avatars under 10-15K and your sigs at say, 35-40K max. Be fair to those old-fashioned dial-up members, ok? Just to give you an idea, my current sig and avatar are less than 30K combined.

OK, Place is starting to grow on me. I am liking it more and more.
Now, for a question.
The Icons on the forum headers (The Elantra Handling Zone for example) change color when there is a new post. When you open that forum, the little icons tell you when there is a new post in the thread.
But how do you know which is the new post inside the thread?

Hey, Mitch! How about adding a "Links" link on the forum header. Also update the links to include BSE (if they have one).
Thanks

its the title on the top of your browser window and on the taskbar tab. it always says "The Hyundai Elantra Club Forum" so yeah, whenever i look to go back a few pages, all i see is the same thing ten times, no specification of whether it was a search result page or the name of the topic. also, if i want to link someone, i have to include the topic name and what have you.
and i apologize if there are some parts of that where it doesn't make any sense, i spent all afternoon studying chemistry.

Well we've been here about 5 plus weeks. The new IPB software simple blows EZBoard's out of the water and is one of the best bulletin board packages you'll find. We've seen our name change, added a cool subscriber games arcade, have vastly improved search capabilities, have an excellent communication (PM) system, fast chat room and much more.
How would your rate your experience overall so far?

I believe the chat room function should be used more often. It is an avenue for all to express issues which otherwise might not be sufficient to open a new thread. Sometimes the topic might not even warrant a thread start. It is in my opinion a good palce for ALL members to be on the personal level and open. as the threads are more business like, chat room can be more casual. I am sure as usual we all don't want to have abusive and explicit langauge used, but that is an issue that is not to worry about as it is a moot point. I do strongly urge members to join in and invite others. This, in the past I have seen build a very good relationship among members and has been the "glue" that keeps this HOME together. I am sure elantragt, the site Admin would chime in and support us. Just an example, last night there were only two of us in the chat room and it just so happened that member just registered 30 minutes prior to joining the chat room....to top it all it was the member from Trinidad...thats a long ways when I looked on the map !!!! we do have a lot of members from overseas and it is so nice to see them come and join us. I have been "trolling" the "other" Elantra clubs and I came away from them with a feeling of dis-connect. Yet, when I first scanned this site and read some posts I got that "this is my home" feeling. I do get emails from so many web-sites all day long requesting me or other HMA engineers to join their club. I know what they want.....yet when I came upon this site it was refreshing to note that NOBODY here ever asked for any thing, or ripped us apart or went on that "lets gets these guys" rampage. All that was said to me was..A WARM WELCOME EQUUS. That right there tells me you guys are professionals and I keep the company of professionals and positive thinking people. Honestly I donot have enough hours in a day to surf the net. So that said, I am happy I found this site and that's because of thanks to Mr Bill Smulo, he told me about this and said that this is something I should check and see and decide. Here I am....
Let's all utilize the resources in this forum. Happy Motoring everyone.

We have a cool page of single player Flash games at the main site but I may implement a new Arcade here at the forum that uses the member database and can keep track of high scores and stuff. It's not a definite and only in the '"idea" stage but is there interest for it here? Nothing elaborate just simple fun games but the high score challenge might be fun.
