ElantraClub - For Elantra Owners and Enthusiasts _ Hyundai News and Views _ Hyundai surprisingly dropping the Sonata

Posted by: elantragt Apr 1 2016, 12:26 PM

I was suprised to hear from my Hyundai insider that this generation of Sonata will be it's last in the Hyundai lineup. I knew the Azera was being dropped and that was understandable... but the Sonata? As you may know, Hyundai is going to be separating it's Genesis vehicles into a separate division. The Sonata will be sold as the entry level, base model in the Genesis lineup, starting in late 2017, as a redesigned 2018 model.

Personally, I think it's a mistake. I assume they are doing this to charge more for the car and make more profit.

It will be interesting to see what Hyundai comes up with as a replacement in their own lineup.
