UPDATE: I just got the long block back from the shop so I figured I'd post some photos of it. The headers are being made as I type this with an eta of around early to mid august. Hopefully soon we'll start putting the engine back together and get it back in the car... one step at a time. rolleyes.gif

Hey all, It's been awhile but I do have a few updates. I got the new headers back tongue.gif and I've painted the valve cover and the upper and lower timing belt covers Sandalwood to match the rest of the car. Hopefully by the end of October, the motor will be back in the car and things should progress quickly after that.

Cheers

Well it’s been awhile since my last post but progress is still being made. The motor is 95% back together. I’m just waiting for the power steering pump pulley to come back from the paint booth. The its just a matter of re-attaching the pump, running the belts and re-installing in the Elantra. The intake manifold and throttle body are off at the moment. I just had the throttle body ported to 57mm and the intake was port matched. Now the intake is being shipped out to be Extrude Honed for better airflow. That process should take about month to get everything back and attached. In the meantime, Saturday is the tentative date to re-install the motor and start putting together the engine bay. I’ll take more pics when I have them.

Cheers for now cool.gif

If you are trying to make the car quicker and staying naturally aspirated, a manual transmission swap would help immensely.

Where or how did you get your throttle body enlarged?

Happy Easter

Got the motor back in the car!!!

Still have a ton of work to do in the engine bay but at least we're moving in the right direction.

Polyurethane mounts installed

Motor is in!!

Slowly getting closer to the finished product... The next scheduled work day is in 2 weeks so I should have some more updates then.

I had time to put the new radiator / fans together today. I was able to salvage a couple small pieces from the old radiator, but suffice it to say most of it was unrecoverable as it took the brunt of the impact.

Old and New

I didn't get a good look at the insulators until today. I though I would be able to reuse them but even the ones that weren't damaged in the accident are all cracked and dried up. I'll order some new ones on Monday and hopefully get the radiator in this week. More pics when I do :-)
