On the 26th January (Australia Day) We took the http://www.spiritoftasmania.com.au over to Tasmania.
We brought the Elantra along for the trip as we would be here for week. By the end of our trip the Elantra will have completed just under 2,000km
So far we have seen Cradle Mountain which has some amazing views. There is quite a bit of walking involved, but it has been well worth it. We also have spent the last 2 nights in Hobart. Hobart is unbelievable. The Views are amazing, the people are most friendly and they have plenty of excellent places for food and wine.
The weather has been outstanding while we've been here (ranging between 20-29 Degrees Celsius) The best things about Tasmania is the beautiful views of the country side no matter where you are, the people are very friendly and always happy to have a chat and the fact that there is just over 500,000 people living on the island is a great! It's so much more pieceful compared to Victoria with its exploding population i'm pretty sure coming close to peaking past 5 million.
The funny thing about this place is the amount of J2, XD and MD Elantra's on the road here is unbelievable! I must also add all very well maintained. Barely any HD's for some reason.
So far on our trip my XD Elantra has been excellent with fuel economy. We've been averaging 7.1 litres per 100km and getting about 780km out of a tank. I'm pretty impressed given that the terrain here has plently of steep gradients to climb.
I'll post up photos of our trip and of course the tough XD Elantra shortly
Sounds nice! I for one would like to see pics of the home to this guy:
Hope you enjoy yourselves! Went down there once a few years back. Loved it, except for the hole we stayed in in Hobart
Looking forward to the pics!
Well as promised here are some of the photos from our trip to Tasmania. I'm totally in love with Tasmania. With a population of under 500,000 people it's beautiful, quite, has a lively city (Hobart) and most importantly no traffic at all!
We completed our trip covering the midland, down south, up east and back up north in just over 1,200km / 746 miles. Ellie Elantra was outstanding! The whole trip averaged 7.2 litres per 100km. (Pretty good given factory fuel consumption was 8.1 litres per 100km). 50% of driving was highway at 110-130km / 68-80mi, 30% was very steep hill climbing and tight bends and 20% city driving.
Even after 6 years of owning my XD Elantra I still love it like the day I first brought it home. I think they are still a great looking car.
I forgot all about taking photos of all the Elantra's I saw. It is also like a Hyundai island!

Awesome pics Dean! Sorry I missed this post til now.
Thread grave-digging, but never mind.
I lived in Tasmania for a few years, with my Elantra XD2, and took the car on the ferry at least 4-6 times.
Hyundai's are definitely very popular in Tasmania; my dad just bought a new IX35 and loves it.
