ElantraClub - For Elantra Owners and Enthusiasts _ Power Zone _ Intake for 09 elantra?

Posted by: elantraguy09 Aug 6 2012, 02:23 AM

First post besides my new member post. But anyways, I was wondering whats my best bet for a cold air intake on my 09 elantra? Something that gives off a good sound and I know I won't get huge power gains also but whatever it can do would be fine. Also I am thinking about putting a k&n drop-in filter in. So if anyone can help me out or throw in their opinions/knowledge/experience that would be great! Thanks(:

You can remove the resonator and just use a K+N panel filter.

You can't get anything from this engine. You can custom make a CAI or a short ram. Your best bet is to remove the resonator and put in a drop in filter. The HDs computer will be the hurdle to any real power gains.

Alright, thanks for both above answers! thumbsup.gif appreciate it! I know you cant get much power out of this and aftermarket parts are hard to find for this and the few that they make. Looks like I'll just have to wait until my next car for the power. Just kinda focus on looks and what not on this. Also, I am still working on uploading pictures! I have them on my computer but have trouble putting them up so if anyone can help me that would be great! Thanks!

EDIT:Ok well I finally have my avatar up. Now I would just like to know how to add pictures of my car to the garage. If anyone could help me I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Go with the custom one I went to autozone and picked up the pieces that I needed and only spent like 50-60 bucks.

It was really easy just get rid of the old box and put it in it took maybe 20 minutes. It has great tone I think. I had to get a reducer because the throttle body is 2.5 inches, the tubing and the filter was 3 inches I'll try to put a picture up if I get sometime today.

I just installed my KN Apollo intake with spectre tubing in my 09 Elantra Touring, with the 2.0L engine it sounds a lot more performance orientated over 2700 RPM. I went with 3" intake tubing to the 2.75" reducer to the throttle body so your not leaning out your fuel mixture really. With the KN Apollo as a short ram with my piping it is super loud for a stock exhaust that has the same performance as stock. Which the flex pipe attached the engine noise sounds a lot more like its a 2.0L and it pulls harder. Its a noticeable difference the first time out for a drive. Oh a a good thing to do is mount the system to the ignition module off one of the bolts with extra room. I have no complaints except my wallet is hurting a bit right now.
