My tire shop inquired of Hyundai, and then advised me that my 2012 Elantra Limited has the TPMS in the "hub", and thus I won't need to mount TPMS onto my steel 16" wheels which carry my snows (btw, yes, diameter of the snows are equal to the diameter of my 17" summer tires).

Is my tire shop wrong? ... I have searched everywhere I can think of, and cannot find any post which refers to "hub" affixed TPMS modules.

Any comments, 1st hand knowledge, would be appreciated.

Ummmm ... I'm a newbie here, and posted this as a "Reply" to another post regarding TPMS, then find I have somehow launched a new thread. Oh well angry-bangheadonwall.gif I'll learn confused-scratchhead3.gif

Nope - just like the other hyundai's - they are mounted to the rim where the stem hole is.

Just like Vinnie said - they are part of ur valve stem. All cars have to come w/ them (federal law).
Plus if this tire shop said this then I would say go to a different tire shop. I dont know of any new cars that do not have valve stem based TPMS. If they cant tell ur valve stems are TPMSs then I wouldnt trust them to mount the tires or wheels right. Just my opinion.

Holy good God, the Elantra uses a direct TPM system. There are indirect systems that use the ABS hall effect but Hyundia does not. If you buy new TPMS sensors they will have to be "learned" to the computer or you will see the TMPS light. Dealers can do this for a fee or you can buy a TPMS reset tool and do it yourself.

2011 TPMS automatically reset themselves, also if the light goes on and you figure out which tire loss air, it automatically resets itself after inflation and you drive a couple miles.
