OK, so the season has been fun and unforgiving. Started early, still recouping from hernia surgery for the Wilmington tour, seen here: http://www.elantraclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=36471
from there started the local events. Was doing well.... won a few, came in second etc. Match tour rolled into town on the 4th of July weekend and I sucked. Hard. Got beat by someone I knew I'd see in a couple months at Nationals by over 2 seconds. He just flat out-drove me. Next local event I got beat down by another local. Great kid. Can't be mad at him. Sure, I could make excuses about new tires etc.... but the reality is I sucked. I soon found out WHY.... A couple weeks before Nats, we had a 2 day event at Grissom on Concrete. It was a multi-region event (FtWayne, INR, Columbus, Indy, South Bend) were all present and it drew in a lot of competitors for a concrete refressher for nats coming in 2 weeks. Day one... I got killed. Ran last heat, went home and looked at the vids and realized everything my brain said was happening, wasn't. So Sunday, I came back and recalibrated the noggin.... I beat the kid that had beat me a few weeks back and closed the gap on Adam (national competitor) down to 4 tenths of a second on a 60-second course. Came in second of 6 that day. Not bad. Drove the car out to Lincoln, had a great time. Ran early (tues/weds). Had to stand on my first run of the day as I coned the last two. That put me in 15th of 25. Take away the cone on my second run, and that pushed me to 9th. D'OH! Second day is on the big course. Horsepower ruled and I had the most powerful car in class... or if not damn close. Go out and had an OK first run. Go out on #2, and as I'm coming into the finish something feels wrong, hit the brakes, the left front corner dives and I slide. FUCK! Still improved my time, but not much. Go out my third run and the car felt terrible, I drove even worse. That night we found the problem. LEft front strut blew. So I cranked it up on rebound, made the rattle go away and have been driving it like that since. Ended up dropping two spots to 17th. Had I kept clean day one I would have been 12th. This past sunday is our points event #6. I've held onto the overall points lead for the region for the last 3 events. The people behind me had made up ground and I'd resigned myself to the fact that I would lose it after this event. I go out... have fun and destroyed everyone in my class (6), had FTD PAX for the first 2 heats, and ended up 5th of 114. BEst of all, I beat BOTH people behind me. Now, I still won't win, but the worst I can do now is 4th, best is 2nd. I have several vids up on FB in the IndySCCA page. Also lots of pics on mine (Bob Miller). Won't let me repost them here. They're not. I'm not even going to bother with them. I was never happy with the fronts. valving seemed wrong for the spring rates to me. So.... I'm going to ship the fronts and the rear shocks off to Feal in so cal to rebuild and revalve for the spring rates over the winter. It'll run me about $300 to do that, but I think that is the better option than getting another crappy one from Ksport.
Also REALLY want to save for the JunB.L header and a solo cat and get it tuned. I should hopefully be able to put 170 to the front wheels in both HP and torque. I know KDM tuning shows their dyno of just that with an intake and exhaust, so complete exhaust and cat with tune should put me right on that mark, if not more. -------------------- Founding Member of the Indiana Chapter of the Teeny Weeny Club for Secure Adult Males

won't the tune change your class?
i've been OK with the spring rates, much so that i don't change them between street and race. i run the front at 5 and the rear at half. -------------------- 2014 Veloster Turbo - racecar

Nope. ST classes allow stock ECU tuning as long as it doesn't adjust boost. Since I have no boost.... I have no worries. BOOM!
I like the spring rates. I don't like the shocks. believe it or not I run the rears at full stiff with as much preload as I can get and it's perfect for auto-x, but a little on the stiff side for street work. I only change out during winter. Fronts I run 1 click off full soft and quite a bit of pre-load for auto-x, and about 4 clicks on the street. Right now I'm sitting on 7 to keep it from rattling and it's definitely on the stiff side. If I ever do switch classes, it'll be to STX. 8.5" wheels, 245 tires and an LSD. But then I remember I'll be running agains 3-series and boost buggies. With 170whp. -------------------- Founding Member of the Indiana Chapter of the Teeny Weeny Club for Secure Adult Males

i think he meant the header? removing one cat
i cant believe my little rice canards and a spoiler will move me up... a spoiler can be unbolted, but damn canards are lock bolts behind fender hasnt this been a problem with ksports in competition since they came out? was it scott or steve whose kept blowing ? there top of line coilovers Are supposedly unbearably stiff.. they are weird. i ordered springs directly from them (well thru middle man) and they refunded my money after i wrote them saying two months is too long to wait.. i really wanted to get into some solo this year am i really gonna have to reactivAte my bookface account? -------------------- Oh no, I'm so sorry... the correct answer is The Moops.

Actually, no for 2 reasons. One, the SX has but one cat. It is already a 4-1 tubular header that feeds a single cat under teh car. and Dos, the rules changed a couple years ago to allow you to remove a cat and move it within 18" of it's original location and if the car is equipped with 2 you can remove one.
KSports have alwys been "mediocre" imo. I saw plenty of them on GK's and XD's that sucked balls but when it's pretty much the ONLY option with the spring rates you want what can you do? -------------------- Founding Member of the Indiana Chapter of the Teeny Weeny Club for Secure Adult Males

the classification rules these days put me to sleep..too many levels to read thru and think about reminds me of wrestling... guys would gain as much weight as possible then lose enough to stay in class... does ground control make sleeves for u guys? this miata guy up here swears by em with blue tokicos -------------------- Oh no, I'm so sorry... the correct answer is The Moops.

the rear suspension is what fucks everything up. Up front is just a macstrut. Anyone can make something work there. The rear torsion beam with tiny shock, 2" of travel and oddly shaped rear spring make it hard.
Finally got a vid at lunch of the exhaust: http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y17/bobnj...zps89dbf27d.mp4 See if this vid loads.... having issues with Photobucket and YouTube sucks. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y17/bobnj...zps2abc3dbc.mp4 -------------------- Founding Member of the Indiana Chapter of the Teeny Weeny Club for Secure Adult Males
