If I was a Hyundai marketing exec, I would've brought over the i30 hatch to replace the Elantra GT hatch not the wagon... oh well they didn't listen to me. tongue.gif The new, smaller, more fuel efficient i20 looks very promising and I hope they consider this to replace the aging Accent.

Not bad at all... thumbsup.gif

Wow, can we say they are targeting the same as the Versa and the Rio!

so cute and small

I think the whole 'i' trend would be good to bring to NA - i20, i30 - and a diesel

well I was thinking convertible till I caught there was no b pillar either
maybe they're just in the process or building that side... passenger safety may be on the low side for crash ratings though smile.gif

definitely trippy

In the UK, it will come with a 78hp 1.2-liter and a 100hp 1.4-liter gas engine, shared with the i30. There will also be a 1.4-liter diesel engine in two versions, one with 75hp and the other with 90hp.

I agree with you guys, this car would sell well here - better than the Accent. Personally, I don't care for the looks of the Accent, it's a little too bubble gum for my tastes. This car could take the place of the accent, and they could offer it with power everything starting at around $12k. It's available in a three- and four-door configuration. Line it up against the Honda Fit, give it a hip name (since Infiniti has the i-series) and let 'er rip. A stylish, well-made, well-appointed car that is a good value. Isn't that what led us to the Elantra?

The Kia Rio should be the "cheap" car in the lineup. Offer it with manual windows and locks, with a basic CD/mp3 player for under $10k and advertise the heck out of it. I'd even go a step farther and suggest a smaller engine like that 1.4L that might get the thing closer to 40mpg. Who cares if it's gutless? There's a market for that. Remember the Geo Metro? GM sold the hell outta that car, and even though it was a gutless tin can on wheels, there was a market for it when gas was a little over a buck a gallon.

Hyundai is the upscale brand. Kia is the cheap car brand. The Accent is not an upscale car. The i20 is a little closer.

Well put.

I like the "city car" idea of something small on the outside with a lot of space on the inside. This could definitely go after Fit sales. Some suspension tweaks and just as good or better FE than the Fit and this would sell like hotcakes.

that my friends, is a cutaway display car that will NEVER drive on a road. I've seen pics of other cutaways sitting in storage or in scrapyards after the model year is over.
