True Delta pretty much gives the Touring based on their data (maybe limited) a less than stellar reliability report. I also looked at True Delta's report on the Elantra Sedan; that was average-mediocre at best according to True delta (Karesh).
I researched this car using Consumer Reports and JD Powers plus Edmund's etc, etc. How come those companies data paints a very different picture, ONE OF RELIABILITY! And True Delta shows poor to average reliability? Is it an issue of not having enough data or does it really show a real problem? Here is the link to his site http://truedelta.com/ Not sure what to think here.... This post has been edited by Brookie: Jun 10 2010, 11:36 AM -------------------- A proud member of the club.

A.) never even heard of this place.
2.) I take ANY research from a place that depends on ads for income with a grain of salt. iii.) Why must I join this site just to view the info? -------------------- Founding Member of the Indiana Chapter of the Teeny Weeny Club for Secure Adult Males

Actually the guy that does that site is a member here.
http://www.elantraclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=19675 I still think a place like JD Power with much more data is a more accurate sampling. -------------------- |

Oh... yeah. that place. The one that's almost impossible to submit real information to? I tried multiple times to submit real world information and it won't let me.
Edit: I still get spam from there every week. -------------------- Founding Member of the Indiana Chapter of the Teeny Weeny Club for Secure Adult Males

Yeah, I got sick of the spam and asked to be removed from the list. He asked me a few times to keep my subscription, using different angles of why I should contribute to his site, before he would unsubscribe me. I doubt their sample size is very large, so I would not use their data as reference.

what do they consider reliable?
the beta three is a solid motor, the underpinnings are that of the HD all of which we never really had any issues with except save the mexican fuel pumps, but that was corrected and never made their way into the touring. sorry i think thats a bunch of crap. -------------------- |

I use that site, I have a 2010 ET which I have owned for less than 3 months now and it has had 2 repair trips to the dealership, one for an annoying issue and one for a very serious safety issue.
3 months, 2 trips. Not a very reliable car for me so far, especially given that I now have a random loud knocking at idle while the engine is warming up. -------------------- A proud member of the club.

I've had my '10 Elantra Touring for 7 months and it's been great. The only issue that's been annoying me is the loose panel underneath the sunroof. I have learned not to follow the so called "expert" reviewers and or magazines. Instead I listen to people who have actually owned the car.

cARE To actually share information about these "problems"? These "problems" as you so sarcastically put it are things such as a clutch regulator that failed and allowed most of my brake fluid to escape at 2100kms, and a malfunctioning climate control motor that did not allow the climate control to blow air out of the middle row of vents for 2 weeks after delivery. This doesn't include things such as: The 4 totally separate rattles inside of my dash _VERY_ notchy shifting to 2nd gear when the transmission is cold A random knocking noise at idle that I can't duplicate well enough to have the dealership look at it A radio that randomly jumps to different stations or cranks up the volume on its own ... I'm sure there are more things I am forgetting, but for a car I have only owned for 3 months and put only 5560km on, this is a pretty hefty list. IMO the Elantra Touring deserves a terrible reliability rating, mine has been crap. This post has been edited by zero10: Jun 16 2010, 01:24 PM -------------------- A proud member of the club.

Sorry to hear about your issues, however you cannot make a blanket statement that all Elantra Tourings? are unreliable. I've had a few terrible experiences with cars that were supposed to be "bulletproof" and weren't... -------------------- A proud member of the club.
