Hi everyone, I didn't see any posts on this, or I may have missed it but I was wondering if anyone had done or gotten a sound system done and keep their factory radio.

You can essentially do that with any car. Simply get a line out converter. Depending on the quality you want, you get get them anywhere from $40-$200. LOC's are great for using your stock HU. Just keep in mind you may lose some sound quality...

With this said, what kind of upgrades are you looking to do?

I put one in using the factory HU on a 2013 GT. I put together an install writeup which may help you on your install. Check it out here!

thxs for the link to the write up, going to take a look at it now.

oo, the write up was nicely done, it looks fairly simple to do, only thing I might need to do is make sure my HU will have the same schematics as yours or not and see if all the pins are the same, but other then that, Im sure I can do it myself.

This install was pretty easy. It had been a number of years since I last installed a stereo but things went pretty smoothly.

For the wiring diagrams you can pull them off of Hyundai's service site for your car. The Elantra Club has a log in set up that you can use to access the site (or you can make one yourself). Login info is here.

If you're just looking to add a sub then yea, a simple LOC will be perfect. It gets more complicated when you start amping aftermarket speakers. Good luck!
