Hi, before I call the dealer and have them swap out my BRAND NEW radio in my BRAND NEW car:

I cannot get the "tuner" button to work and bring up the bass/treble/fade/left-right dialogues. The manual says to push the tuner button and those commands will appear, but I can push it til the cows come home and nothing appears. This is the case whether it's on am/fm/or xm.

Is there some secret trick that I don't understand, or is it defective?

First, welcome to the club! Be sure to fill out your profile and garage... these are great features around here.

Second, are there any other buttons on the faceplate other than "tuner"? We'll try to get this sorted out quickly and easily.

Try pushing "in" the tune knob. That is what I do on my '09 to access the menu of options.

Btw... Welcome!

That's what I'm saying. When I push the tune knob in, NOTHING HAPPENS. What does it look like when you push your button in? Does a dialogue appear on the screen so you can adjust the bass/treble, fading, etc.? Can you post a screenshot?

Layout of factory-installed xm radio:

Left round knob - Power/Volume

Right round knob - Tune / File / Enter

According to the manual, it's the tune button that is supposed to control the bass/treble, fading, and left/right balance if you push it. However, I can push it til my finger bleeds and no audio dialogue comes up. And YES, I have done this when it is TURNED ON and TURNED OFF, so please don't suggest that....

Here is a picture of it.

I would take it to the dealer. It sounds defective.

It's not defective, the manual is wrong. I have the same car and same radio.

Right side buttons, middle button, right side, hit set up. When you get the menu, the first option is audio, there is where you can adjust those things. The way you SELECT the options is to press the TUNE button IN.

Works like a charm. Just went out to my Touring and verified.

Good luck.

Hey, no problem. Just so you know, when you press TUNE to select AUDIO then you have the listed option like BASS, TREBLE, FRONT, etc. You need to turn the TUNE know left or right to scroll through, then press in to select. Once you do, you need to again turn the TUNE knob to adjust, then press in to select that you are done. Pressing SETUP again will get you out of the whole menu and back to your normal screen.

Do you have the XM in yours? I don't, was considering it.

I do have the XM - free for 3 months. I love it, although if you go into a tunnel it cuts off. I have gotten good advice from a friend of mine to just let the trial run out and not contact the xm people until they are begging you to come back. Apparently they get really desperate to turn you into a paying customer. My friend negotiated a $6 per month rate for 8 months, and he's going to do it again when the 8 months run out. biggrin.gif

To Taktrevor:

Once again, THANK YOU! Works like a charm. You saved me from making a fool of myself by calling the dealer and yelling at them.
I'm no longer vibrated out of my seat by the bass (which was set at +8!)
