Test drove a GL Sport last week. I am pleasantly surprised so far. Handling is a bit firm, it does swallow bumps a lot easier than the sedan. But, for $24 grand (Canadian..) you're almost in Mazda3/heck.. Volvo C30 territory.

After taking a good look at one tonight I'd have to say it's smaller than I was visualizing with the pictures around. Don't think it's a photogenic car.
but definitely looks better in person. I had a nice look around a 'vivid blue' auto L and must say that it's a fine piece of work. The sticker was set at $19,995Cdn; but I believe that was with the preferred package and goodies.

Still not a huge 'wagon' style, but it's not so boxy as I had envisioned. Really hit it on the head with close to the Mazda3, or maybe even the older Protege5, but I'm not so sure of the C30... Comparing it to a Volvo, I'd have to pick the V50, but smoother, and likely a bit smaller.

I think there's really one part of the Touring that gets me, and possibly others..... those tail lights.... if they weren't so huge I don't think the style would be all that bad. I'd also think it'd be better to take some downward angle photos that don't make it look so tall. I mean really, who looks at a car from the road?

Did you know that there's a vent in the glovebox that you can open/close so that you can keep things cool in there? That's COOL!
Also - unlike the hatch where there's the cargo cover thingy... the Touring has one that folds up like blinds and can get removed and stored under the hatch trunk near the spare tire...
There were 8 cup holders that I noticed, not bad for only seating 5 (though 2 are where the 5th person would be)
The dash/console is very inviting in that blue and the nice information section in the middle; between the 2 guages.

I wouldn't complain about having one of these machines, and the guy was hoping to get me in one... but I've gotta pay off this one first.
Things I'd do with this first off:
- get some new rims, ones that don't scream minivan or soccer-mom (coulda just been the ones I saw, the GL Sport ones look better...)
- get rid of the wheel gap, it's not an SUV
- don't know if there's the option to have NO chrome, but I'd remove it
- add the mud guard accessories
- add the rear spoiler

So that is my in and out of the Touring... didn't test drive it, but did have fun getting in and out of the unplowed parking lot.

Test drove a Touring today, it had the optional sunroof and the 17" wheels. I have read earlier that it was supposed to have an 8 way adjustable drivers seat standard. This one didn't and I couldn't get comfortable on the test drive.

The look is striking at first but changes the more you look at it. The front end is attractive; the rear end is not.

Ride was extremely harsh, ( there can't be more than 2" of rubber between the rim and the road) with invasive suspension booming when hitting the larger tar strips on the highway. A ten minute test drive was enough for me; I was really disappointed with the noisy cabin, thrashy engine at heavy throttle, and the lack of power.

MSRP was just under $21K

When I looked at one, it looked like a 4x4 to me. It was tall, ugly as an upside down bathtub (in other words, looked like shit).

I like my current Elantra too much to even think about buying one.

I was looking at it on the website and on paper, and I find absolutely no motivation to spend extra for the Touring. Same engine and no extra features = dud

Lots of detailed pics here.

http://www.ecarlist.com/showroom/1150/photos/266651#01.jpg

Other than the general shape of the dash, it doesn't look like they recycled hardly any parts from the regular elantra. Different turn and wiper signal arms, different steering wheel radio controls, different window controls, front door panels different, rear doors have cup holders, different stereo and HVAC controls (?), and different instrument cluster (i think). This one has heated seats too. I thought the interior would have shared more parts with the 4 door elantra. It looks very high quality in the pictures though. I liked how the recessed the seat belt anchors in the rear seat too. Looks like they actually put some thought into it.

I'm guessing the chrome gear selector handle would give a nasty glare in the summer though. Bad idea, me thinks.

As for the exterior.... BLEH. They should have brought over the hatch.

Holy crap. I just noticed you can get $3500 rebate on a Sonata! $2000 cash back and $1500 loyal owner. Dang.

I really like all those pictures, very detailed.
Also some decent angles that don't make it look like a mini-van

I still agree they should have brought over the real hatch, but this thing isn't completely horrible.

Those tails scream "I'm too big!".

Smoking those on a dark car would be sweet.
