This winter roached out the rubber on my rear wiper blade. I figured I could get a 12" refill for it. Not. I guess they don't make them any more, used to be you could put one in with a metal wiper blade just by spreading the clips and sliding a new insert in and crimping everything back down. So these wiper arms/blades are made of plastic and there's no giving trying to put in a new one. The closet replacement was a Rain-X rear wiper blade 12" I found at Walmart for like 8 bucks. Of course it wouldn't fit on the wiper arm, but figured the rubber would fit into the Hyundai wiper blade itself. Not.

Bottom line is, the rear wiper blade is a Hyundai only part. Viewing the other Elantra forum, there was a topic about this some time ago. Currently the dealer price for this item is like almost $48.00, yep just for the rear wiper blade. It is not available aftermarket, and doubt it ever will be due to lack of demand. This same blade will also fit the Tucson. So I found some original brand new OEM Hyundai rear blades on E-Bay and all of those vendors accept Pay-Pal only. Price ranged from like 8-12 bucks not including shipping. Some say that they've had terrible experiences with E-Bay and Pay-pal, but I did find the same part through Amazon from a vendor @ 13.97 each with free shipping from Korea. Might take several weeks before it get's here, but I figured I can wait. I ordered 2. Still beats the price of one from a Hyundai dealership. OEM Hyundai part # is 988501H000.

Just thought I'd share this on the Forum...

Thanks for the headsup, Charlie. thumbsup.gif That's just unreal that Hyundai would make a wiper blade a dealer only item.

Sucks actually. angry-hitselfonhead.gif

You can get the wiper blades on ebay for 10$
I would suggest ordering more than 1 at a time as for me so far i need yo replace it each year.
The ones i got from ebay lasted as long as the oem.
I wouldn't be afraid of rbay and paypal
I've been using them for years
Paypal are very helpful if you run into problems and vendors don't want you to screw up their ratings!!

I bought an OEM one at the dealer last year.
This year I went looking for the refills, and found some second try at Canadian Tire, 1st try not fitting/too wide.
I will look for the product number in a moment.
Was about $12 for two, which can be cut so will last me for four refills.

It still seems ludicrous. I mean my '02 Elantra GT hatch had a rear wiper and I could walk into any store that sold blades and get a replacement.

This is what I used, Canadian Tire brand, Assembled in Mexico.
"Fits most arms"

The key is it being "narrow", as shown in the bottom picture;

Thanks for that info! That does seem ridiculous that a replacement isn't more widely available, but at least there are some options online at a reasonable cost. Curious to see what happens when I need to replace the rear wiper blade on the GT. Haven't looked yet as I rarely use it so it will be some time before it needs to be replaced, but hopefully I don't run into the same issue!

wish we had Canadian Tire down here in Virginia! Even if I ordered a few from them online I'd still have to pay shipping which would prob be twice the cost of the item itself. Bottom line is this whole ordeal shouldn't be such a pita

My rear wiper is fried too but I'm waiting for the weather to stop being so wintery. Last time I replaced my wipers I seem to recall it being around $70 at the dealer for all 3 so your price seems steep to me as well.

I found a vendor on Amazon that orders the parts from Korea. Had to wait about 3 weeks for shipping (which was free) and paid $10 a piece for two. So I got a spare.
