ElantraClub - For Elantra Owners and Enthusiasts _ The Kia Zone _ 2004ish Kia spectra

So not that i'm going to buy one, but i was just wondering. What in common do they have with the elantras. Are they the same car with a different badge? Or do they only share a motor and trans?

Many others know far more than I about this. But...
I think the Spectra chassis lagged the Elantra by one gen, except mechanically. I know when I test drove the 2008 Elantra and my 2007 Spectra, the drivetrains were the same, probably including final drive ratio. I thought the trannies were the same, someone here once told me the trannie pans are different but I don't get down there that much so I know nussink.

Looks are subjective, I prefer the taillamp treatment 2007-2009 vs the (I think) 2004-06.
2010
The two lines parted company mechanically when the Forte and the new 2010 Elantra debuted.

Don't blame me if everything I've said is incorrect...I know nussink, nussink!!

The last generation Spectra was an XD2 Elantra in disguise. all different sheet metal, interior etc, bust suspension and drivetrains were almost identical. THe Forte came out using the HD's suspension, but with different shocks/springs and hte Theta engines.

So then it just a xd elantra then. Hmm thats good to know.

The Spectra was also available as a hatch in GSX trim. It looked like a sedan with something wrong that you couldn't quite put your finger on...then you realized that the trunk wasn't a trunk:

Those (first generation Spectra) were based off the secondgeneration Sephia. It used a mazda-knockoff drivetrain built by Kia. They were a real pile of poo. drivetrains would last forever if you changed the t-belt and oil. rest of the car? Not so much.

Just to put out the most accurate information I need to chime in. The Forte is based on the HD chassis but as you said the engine choices are different. The suspension setup and steering system are completely different as well. Basically the HD is setup for comfort. The Forte for sport.

I was in pull a part and saw a GT and wonder if the back seat would bolt up or at least be close enough. I really didn't feel like taking out the rear of the spectra hatch to find out. ( But black leather, and just get covers for my specV seats/ or replace with G20t (trying to find the black rears now for my SpecV/)would be a nice combo.... Tiburon seats feel great in my B15 smile.gif

Is the guy you're talking about, had a white spectra ( Kevo?)all motor, but is now boosting?

or the Sephia 1st gen 95 (sold) and then got a spectra Gsx like my body style (kiakid)? I think they are all still on streetkiaz.com if not ont he facebook forums for streetkiaz and other kdmforums. I think we've all got other cars though.

oh lol, Yea for the longest I was looking for a used Elantra GT sedan to do a Delta Swap. Gave up lol. But it was nice to see it done on youtube smile.gif oh well I'm almost 30 so M45 S or Gen R-Spec Sounds good to me..

What happened to Sharkracing and all that stuff? (sorry I just fell off and seems people like my sister and others who have the new Elantra Limited don't give a damn about Stanced or boosting..

The xd is old and most parts are hard to come by. Its still a great car just getting out dated. The hd didnt do much and the fd/wagon are the weird child now one talks about. With the new ud/md Elantra and Elantra gt i think we should start to pick back up.

Yea agree our cars are old as hell but fun to go back to once in a while. I'm sorry it took me a min to come back ( trying to get used to the configuring int he forum.), but got tied up installing a power antenna on my SpecV, believe me it's been help but bout complete (guess I'll install my Sonata Homelinke Dimming mirror). The kia so far I just had to tight up a lose bolt on my Megan header overall; I have to put work into my Impala at the moment.. But Yea Bro smile.gif

If you guys need XD parts there are a lot of them int he Yards and I mean a lot of GT's with Full Leather still/second gen Tib 15's smile.gif

Here is my youtube page check out all the cars ( sorry if I didn't include it the first time, and like i said feel free to add me on facebook www.facebook.com/albijmi

Looks like im going to have to try and get a black leather repair kit like you said they start to flake/rubbed on the bolstering:
