Nice car!

You should take the car back to the dealer to inquire about what is going on with the electrical system because it is way too new to be troubleshooting already.

Agreed. Yet at the same time, what's the serial number? It's gotta be ULTRA-LOW if you've got it already. It's gotta be practically pre-production, and may have a kink or two.

If it does it everytime it makes me wonder if they flipped the stint/thingy. There;s a fuse in the main box (at least in the older cars) that would prevent electrical draw while being shipped. Once the cars hit the lot, the techs flipped it over and everything worked. I forgot the technical term as i's been over 6 years.... but that is possible.

I think they've been building these in Alabama for a month or two and stockpiling them for release.

Well i guess i can go check the hyundai import yard on the back side of my base to see if the Elantra is getting shipped in from Korea or not.

All that was sitting there last week was alot of the 10's and most are still wrapped in shipping plastic.

That would work if they were being made in Korea. The '11's are coming out of Montgomery, AL plant.

Well i don't know if from Alabama they would ship them on a truck, train or a boat to the west coast.

I would say a ship considering it would be cheaper then any other option.

2200 rpm @ 70 mph. Just for those wondering...

Ok, now that I've had a little more time to play with it, the clock, radio, and electronics all reset, and the keyfob stops working within 20 minutes of shutting the car off. Really annoying. I hope its a quick and easy fix. Makes me think its a relay tripping or a wire has a bad connection.

Acceleration is pretty decent for only 148hp. It still feels like a family sedan, but it gets up to speed well. Acceleration at high speeds is really good for the power it makes, probably due to the aerodynamics.

Handling is not bad, but the suspension is a tad soft, as are the sidewalls of the tires. Still better than the corolla, civic, and focus I tested.

Cabin noise is very low even at 80mph. Tires are pretty silent, and wind is almost nonexistant.

The stereo is pretty good for a stock unit, but the sound is just not that great. The bluetooth on the other hand works beautifully. Probably the best bluetooth system I've used. The only thing that would keep me from upgrading the stock unit is that I would lose the awesome bluetooth pairing and operation.

The interior is very well done, but you can tell that the engineers looked at every piece to save weight. It doesn't give it a cheap feel, but maybe not as durable feeling as it could be. With that said, in order to get to 26xx pounds, they had to save weight everywhere. The sonata to me feels a little more refined, but then again, the sonata feels like I was sitting in a 5 series bmw.

Cabin space is huge compared the how small the car actually is. It feels very comfortable even in the backseat, at almost 6' tall. The trunk is also very large and very tall height wise. Lots of cargo space.

The dash readout and steering controls are easy to navigate. You can almost everything without taking your hands off of the wheel.

The sunroof operation is typical, nothing fancy.

My only complaints are: electronics are resetting (may be an easy fix), radio could sound a bit better, suspension could be a little tighter and tires could be a bit stiffer. Other than that, its a beautifully engineered car inside and out.

You know what I noticed and it really pisses me off? Dealer that put that front plate on the car for advertisement. The screw that crap in your bumper. I see in your state that you don't need a plate?

The dealer did that to our Accent and I'm stuck with 2 holes in the bumber. Partially my fault as I forgot to mention to my dealer not to put any advertisement crap on the car.

Nice, and congratulations on your early Christmas present. Hope you get the keyfob gremlin worked out soon.

Works out to 31.4 MPH/1000 RPM in top gear, that's pretty good for a 1.8L small car. My Spectra runs about 27.
Elantra 1.8 is probably going to be quicker too, given that the HP and TQ figures are pretty similar and the Hyundai has two more gears to play with.
Cool.
