I had used some Peal & Seal on my wife's xB a while back so I wanted to try it on my truck since I was upgrading the stero and had the doors covers off.
I had remembered seeing some stuff called Tite-Seal while there. It is about $7 cheaper but is a little less product (4" x 33', 11 sq feet vs 6" x 25', 12.5 sq feet). I figured I would give it a try instead of the Peel & Seal.

I used it on my drivers side rear door today. It is a thinner product than the Peel & Seal, but that makes it much, much easier to apply and install. The 4" width makes it easier to use on doors also since it is not a big flat area. It also has NO odor at all. I noticed the Peel & Seal has a mild odor when opened and for the first few hours you can smell it (but does go away within a day).
I am not sure the effectiveness vs Peel & Seal (or "real" sound deadeners), and I don't have the speakers installed yet, but the door does sound a little more solid when closing (they sounded more solid than my car even before putting it in). Also just tapping on it it sounds more solid and not as much echo. I used about 3/4 roll on 1 door. If I had done inside the door completely (I only did 2 long strips) I probably would have used an entire roll.

I got 2 rolls of the Tite-Seal and 2 rolls of Peel & Seal. I will use the Tite-Seal on the other back door and Peel & Seal on the front doors. Whatever I have left I will start doing the doors on my wifes car (the drivers door has an annoying creak to it).
One thing with the Tite-Seal, it also comes in 9" x 33" (24.75 sq feet) to do bigger areas, so I may get some if and when I get around to doing the wifes floor.

Here is the door, took about 1.5 hours to do it.

That's cool, but I'm totally the opposite. I want to take all that stuff out. Loudness be hanged, let the car make the music (especially if you're going to install a cage, seat, etc.). biggrin.gif

The car "making music" and the car rattling and buzzing are 2 different things.

In the truck, I really have no idea if it will make a difference, but for $40 and a few hours I figure why not.

I know in my wife's xB, it will make a difference. It sounds very tinny when closing the doors, road noise is pretty bad and their are lots of rattles in it just driving around. Doing the rear cargo area made a little difference with road noise. I think when I do more of it the sound (not just musical) will improve.

Just curious, should I have kept the holes in the door covered?
I have read a few posts around the net where people cover all the holes (or at least as many as possible) to help improve bass.
I can see how it could make it a big "enclosed" speaker box, so I could see some merit, except the Tite-Seal would flex, plus with the holes required to mount the door cover, it would probably be pointless???

Unless you're going for an SPL competition with 4 15" subs, I wouldn't pay attention to covering the holes or not. It's not a big deal hahah. I kinda like having those gaps just in case I had to get in there for some reason

I got the passenger rear door done today. Went a lot quicker this time since I know what wires to take off and stuff.

I actually have a lot more than I thought. I just finished the first roll doing the second door so I have 3 rolls left. I still think I am going to do the front doors with the Peal & Seal to compare them. I am also going to do the front doors in my wife's xB for sure too, and depending on what I have left, probably the floor under the rear seat and possibly rear doors in her car.

Got the front doors done today. I used the Peel & Seal on the drivers door. That stuff is a lot thicker and harder to work with.
I did the pass front door with the Tite Seal, much easier to work with on a door. I am going to use the Peel & Seal on the floor of my wifes xB eventually. I will use the rest of the Tite Seal on her doors, may need to get another roll to do all doors.

Overall I am very happy with how the Tite Seal worked. Seems to reduce the "ping" in the doors quite well, and the doors close with more of a thud. It is cheaper than Peel & Seal (and much much cheaper than "real" sound deadening products) and very easy to work with on doors. No bad smell, but no idea on longevity, I will report on that in the future.

Looks great and would have loved to do this years ago. But now I'm just too lazy to do the entire car.

so it silenced road noise enough you would recommend it to be a necessary mod in all cars?

Oh no, I'm so sorry... the correct answer is The Moops.

The packaging clearly stated '100'. I'm short ONE luft balloon.
