Just received a winter tire / wheel package from Tire Rack for my 2011 Limited. I purchased the TPMS sensors with the package. After reading some forums, I planned to take the car to a local shop to get the sensors sync'd to the car. I have had the wheels on the car now for three days and approximately 200 miles. I thought I would have a TPMS light on the dash until the shop could calibrate them, because the sensors are not sync'd. The TPMS light is not on. Is there a problem? Could they have sync'd themselves, thus saving me the $35 cost at the shop? Thanks for any help.

I think that even if you have only one in there is a spare for the winter, the TPMS light would be off because it's really just looking for one wheel that has a low pressure to turn the light on. Sometimes people put one of the sensors in a sealed and pressurized PVC tube to do the same thing.

No lights are good lights long as the lamp isint burnt out. If you have your wheels in the car from the change over.... its still reading them.

Hey-the tpms light comes on for a few seconds when the key is turned to on, and then goes off unless there's a low tire. Check if it's doing this first.

So many storys about the tpm sensors. Elantra uses direct type Lear sensors. First thing is, no receiver is going to read a sensor in a trunk, tire, tube, pressure cooker,etc..
It must be rotated to be activated. The other thing is the 2011 Elantra has a auto learn receiver that will read your new sensors without having to be programed if:
they are Low Line sensores
they are 315mHz frequency
they not in "storage mode".
I have a Tire rack winter wheel package and bolted the tires on with no problems at all.
Drive and enjoy.

The TPMS light does come on when starting the car, it then goes off. I did not put one of the tires in the trunk as I have a donut spare. I am thinking of taking one tire down to about 25psi and see if the light comes on. I am hoping that the Tire Rack sensors match the car and do not require a shop to calibrate. Has anyone else found this to work?

Hey-the tpms light on my car came on a while back and I found all four tires had 27 lbs. Strange! I corrected the pressure back to 32 and it's been fine since.

OK, looking at the hmaservice website, it does appear that the receiver can autolearn new sensors, although there are procedures for technicians to program them as well.

Autolearn takes about 20 minutes of driving over 12 mph.

Thought I answered this, but yes, your tire rack sensors will work with no hocus pocus magic tricks or special dances or prayer.
If no sensors were found by the TPMS control module you would of had a TPM light on.

If you intend on seeing a TPM light, the threshold pressure limit is 25% below the vehicle's recommended cold tire pressure, shown on the placard located on the driver side B-pillar.
Remember it does in fact take 25 minutes at or above 12MPH to for a fault to trigger a TPM light which is pretty useless if you depend on a TPMS for checking your tires. The same to reset after a fault.
