I am an owner of a 2001 Elantra and have been in the process of upgrading. The whole car is planned to be revamped but at the moment i am looking for a custom grill. The OEM one is not attractive. Is there somewhere that i can get one that is a mesh or billet grill or even someone to make one? I have had no luck on the internet.

Picked up a 2014 Elantra Sport 2.0 2 weeks ago with only 5500 miles on it. Getting used to the 6 speed as it's my first. Last car was a 5 speed. SO far really enjoying the car. No plans to any modifications, but you never know. I enjoy forums like this to learn more about the particular car, especially maintenance. I'm retired USAF and now work in the fleet industry and we also have Elantra's and Sonata's in our fleet, so I'm very familier with the car. I live west of the Atlanta GA area.

Hey there Elantra fans,
I'm Ryan and I've been considering getting a new or newish Elantra GT. I'm pretty familiar with Hyundai and used to own a 2000 Elantra GLS wagon back in college, followed by a 2002 Elantra GT hatchback when I got my first real job. Both cars were reliable in the time I had them, and they were pleasant ownership experiences overall. I got rid of the 2000 wagon because, well, a gray station wagon isn't cool for a single 20 year old guy. I do regret getting rid of it because it was able to haul lots of gear and was surprisingly fun to drive. The GT seemed so much more appealing, but I only kept it about eight months because it was just too expensive. It was a gorgeous car and I got lots of comments on it back then.
My parents also own a 2003 Santa Fe that they bought new (based on my recommendation when I had the GT) and they still drive it to this day with no problems at all. It's the best car they have ever owned. So I have full faith in Hyundai products.
Currently I have a 2015 Honda Fit, my first brand new car, and it has been a reliability nightmare. With Honda's new plant in Mexico and an entire new staff (along with an all new design), there's been so many quality issues. Mine has been to the shop eight times in the lowly 1600 miles that it has. Mighty disappointing. The new Fit has also had six recalls in the last year as well, yikes! Besides that, it's a pretty gutless car and not all that pretty to look at. It replaced a 2005 Focus ZX5 hatch, which was an awesome car that I owned for over six years and doesn't come close to being as good as that car.
The Elantra GT is very similar in size and concept to my former Focus, plus has the piece of mind of Hyundai quality. I'm on the fence about taking a hit with the Honda and just going with the more enjoyable (and trustworthy) Hyundai, but.......
finding a manual in the base model in the gorgeous Germanic red is almost impossible. There just aren't any. And the few that I can find have a beige interior, which shows every mark and blemish. The black hides everything better and seems more durable. However, I don't know if they exist and they seem to be the unicorn of the Hyundai lineup. I contacted the local Hyundai dealer to look for one, especially with the $3k rebate at the moment, and they said there isn't a single red, base manual Elantra GT in all of California available.
I love the car and everything about it; it looks dead sexy, is roomy, versatile, gutsy, value packed and fun; I hope I can find one.
How did any of you with a manual GT go with finding one? Did you have much trouble?

Hey everyone! I've been stalking this forum for awhile (waiting for account approval). I have already learned quite a bit from many of you!
I bought my first Hyundai about 3 weeks ago (2013 Elantra GLS). About a week after purchasing, a chirping sound emerged from the heater.
Had to have the blower motor replaced (thankful for the remaining factory warranty). Other than that it's been smooth sailing. It's been a bit of
an adjustment for me as I was driving a much larger car. My daily commute is about 70 miles a day so I am looking forward to the gas savings!
There are quite a few paint chips in the hood plus some small scratches. I have placed an order with Dr. ColorChip and hoping it will work well.
After it cures, I will be testing out all of the Meguiar's products that I've purchased! I didn't even know what a "swirl" was until reading the detailing
forums...now they're driving me CRAZY!
I don't have a great pic yet as the weather here has not been great But here's one that I snapped at work the morning after I bought it. Looking
forward to reading even more helpful posts now that I can access them!

Just wanted to take a quick second out to introduce myself.
I recently picked up a 2014 Elantra Coupe GL 2.0L Nu 6MT, and for the most part, I love it! Can't wait to change it up, and really make it my own.

Helloo from Canada. Nice forum you have here. I am new to Hyundai, as a long time Honda owner, I finally needed a change. I got rid of my 08 civic and got a 14 Elantra GT. So far ... I am loving it. Plan on doing a few things to it, but only had it a few weeks, so haven't done much yet. Will share when I do .. well enough babble, here is a pic for now. I don't have many as it was 30 below when i picked up the car, and well .. it hasn't been much warmer yet since!

Hello all. Great forum you have here. Just bought a 2012 Elantra Limited. I was looking to replace my 03 Town and Country. Laugh if you will, but I'm going to miss that van. It had 180,000 + on it and never let me down. With gas milage at 19mpg for the T&C and a 70 mile round trip to work, it was time to down size and consider a car with better mpg. I never considered buying a Hyundai before. I drove a 2014 Elantra a couple of months ago, and I was impressed, but it was a lower trim level and was not something I would have considered at the price it was new. So fast fwd a while and I'm looking online at some lower priced cars I came across an 07 Camry at a local dealership that I had been to when a few other people I know were looking at cars. I figured at 14,000, the price I came up with as a limit I was pretty much going to get a basic car that would be good for A-B transport.
While checking out the Camry the associate checked their stock for cars in my price range and came up with the Elantra. At 13,998 I figure it would be a stripped down model, but I was wrong. I was shocked that it had so many features that I would have only expected in a car out of my range. The biggest concern is would I fit, I'm 6'3" so most cars are way too small, or have to reach for the wheel when the seat is all the way back. Not a problem, roomy with telescoping wheel, a great fit. Add in that it's a Limited with black leather heated seats, moonroof, bluetooth, XM, and many other options. So instead of basic transit I ended up with a quick, comfortable, fun ride with all the options I could ask for at a great price(at least $1000 less than the other 4 in the state). Oh and 32mpg so far, which I'm sure could improve once I stop driving it just to put a grin on my face
Now it's time to find a real spare tire, have an amp installed, find a spoiler I like, and possibly have her pinstriped or maybe some graphics. I'll make sure to update my progress. Any sugestions??

Hello Guys! I'm Melvin. I just moved in to Wheeling, IL this year and bought this certified pre-owned 2011 Elantra GLS last March. To be honest I kinda wish that I bought a brand new model or maybe a coupe but I love my car anyway and plan to do some mods in the future.
I'm just a newbie in DIY but I already read a lot of helpful threads and I'm looking forward to use it in my future mods. Glad to be a member! Thanks!

My first car was an Excel 4 speed (blown 4 speed) i swapped in a 5 speed when I was 17. I used to work at a speed shop here in CT and a customer came in to replace his custom 2.5" stainless steel exhaust for a more complete direct fit new to the market 3" mandrel bent ss exhaust, it was a brand new first batch wrx back in 2002/2003 something like that. Well he didnt want his old exhaust and gave it to me, guess what i did? [17 years old] + [entire wrx 2.5 ss exhaust] + [Hyundai Excel (that i secretly wanted to swap in a 4g63T into] = 17 year old with an awesome sounding excel lol.
about 16 turbo eclipses/talons/colt/evo's/lasers later and that one unsuccessfully never swapped Excel later I now drive a 2014 evo mr and my wife has a 2013 Elantra Coupe SE and I looooooooove 38mpg for long drives evo+21mpg+93oct=no fun long drives.
Will probably be buying an Elantra gt, i'm secretly holding out wishing for an awd/turbo elantra model.
I like speed boats, jet-skis, turbo ANYTHING, playing pool, road trips are awesome, building motors, building transmissions, building cars, riding bikes, and occasionally making money would love for it to be much more frequently.

Hey all, thanx for the add to the forums.
We actually have 2 Hyundai's now, the wife pretty much took over the new Santa Fe XL, so im pretty much in her 2012 Elantra GL.
Abit of my auto background, huge fan of modding, from my first real bought Intrepid, to a 2007 Plum Crazy Charger, than into a VW GTI. Currently in the process of engine swapping a '81 Cordoba.
So this Elantra is abit.......slow? Hehehe, but really, ive always loved this car, the mileage, handling, looks, space and safety (car saved my infant son and wife's life in an accident) so she's a keeper.
Aside from a CAI, not much i can see to get any more UMPH outta the engine, so will be doing primaly cosmetic mods. Will post up some info and pics when i can.
Also if anyone has any tips hit me up, will be cruising the forums as well.

Hallo everyone!
It's a pleasure to be a new member of the Elantra Club! I'm eager to meet some members and see what kind of stuff this club has to offer! I've already learned quite a bit about my car through this club and I hope to learn more!
A bit about me:
I'm 24 years old, will be working as an accountant in Richmond, Virginia, and I own two cars: a 1987 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royal Brougham and a 2004 Hyundai Elantra GLS.
Tschüß für jetzt!

Hello,
Signed up a few months back finally getting around to a post. Not new to Hyundai cars. On my second Elantra currently, this one being an 07 Limited that I purchased 6 years ago. Only mods are Airblue 80 tint, Weathertech vent visors and mats, remote start and new coupe wheels added this spring. As soon as I get a chance I'll post a pic. Probably will be looking into a new Hyundai in a few years.
Thank you,

Hi Folks,
my name is Stavros and i am Greek but i live in Germany, and i thank you becoming a member of this Forum. I am the owner of one very rare Elantra UD in Germany and its very difficult for me to find tuning parts, because Hyundai Germany doesn´t sell this car here in Germany, but in a lot of other country's in Europe. Spare parts are still available but not tuning parts!!! And for the modification you must make a check by a technical organisation and you need data documents about the parts you want to install.
Now back to my Elantra...its a 2013 1.6 MPI with 132 HP machine, the only available engine in Europe. But with the new Elantra 2014 they will bring the 2.0 l engine to the Hugarian and spanish Market. I changed the radio, because i wanted a 8 inch cardvd gps (from China) and some other goodies from Korea. My biggest dream is the OEM rear Spoiler on my Elantra...but i dont get any data sheet or documentation of this spoiler to install it. Do you have something for me?
Greetings from Siegburg Germany

Hey Guys, I actually found this site through my car pic when I was googling lol. However, I love my Hyundais over kia ( person reasons back in the day when we were first modding cars, and kia just wasn't it with their damn dealers), but I'm still a long time Alumni of Streetkiaz.com. Lately though it seems that the Facebook Groups have really taken over.
So I felt it would be better to just give you a brief descrip, of me and link you to my youtube page and fb of my cars ( since cardomain well hell the format sucks now)
I'm Albi aka Jaime, it's great to meet every one, I've been in NC for too long and can't wait ot move after I finish with medical school ( long process), though I live some what of both Charlotte, NC and Fayetteville/Fort Bragg, NC. My home town would be fay, and I came back here to start back on my medical Career; and I also work out of Raleigh, NC at the moment and do travel jobs. I love Charlotte, and I love going to SC with that being Myrtle Beach, most times when I do get out to the "A" (ATL) its for car shows/ (IE.) Nopi or ImportAlliance meets, since the last show I worked HIN was in Charlotte, they haven't been back here lol.
I own 3 vehicles. A 2000 Impala LS which I have lately begone moddying and doing some performance upgrades ( however school cost and I prefer to buy a house), It was cool that I was able to do my first computer tune on this vehicle, instead of bolt on's and internal work like my other car My 2002 SE-R SpecV, and for my final car which brought me here my 2002 Kia Spectra GSX, not my first car ( which was a 2000 Sportage EX) but my 3rd Kia ( wrecked my first 02 Spectra GSX identical)... Believe me I dind't choose the car it was a high school gift before my dad died, and lets just say I wish It was a stick over the auto lol, but I'll as it has been now for over 13 years. Overall I've one my first show and went on to my 3rd Shows to win . ( I still think NOpi rips people lol) But that's my opinnon, Overall I've been through shit with people talking crap about KIA but usally when they saw my they Shut up rather than put up; since most were confused if it was an Audi or Volvo.
It's cool to have something Eclectic and I thank my dad for that, which is why I haven't gotten rid Kitt.
Though now that I'm Maturin it's to move on to bigger Vehicles which Juanita has showed me, and more performance as Spexy has proven fun. So I hope my next vehicle after i by a home is an S6 (Thanks Peter S. ). I still support our KDM community and glad that you guys are still supporting us too.
Oh, does it help to add that one of my sister drives the first year of the Current Elantra Limited, and man did she talk crap about me still driving the Kia, but hey you don't mess with what's not broke and Paid for.
I look forward to meeting you guys, and have fun at some meets like I did with the Newtiburon.org guys back in the day
Thanks,
Albi(My Youtube Channel)

Finally purchased my first car, a 99 elantra gl. It has just over 110k miles and can use a little love here and there, new paint, finding a couple things for the interior, but otherwise very good. I was curious though, since i am having to repaint the entire car(florida's sun hates clear coats) i was looking at some of the body kits out there and was wondering if there were any others beside the Evo2?

Hello!
New guy here from Baltimore. I bought a brand new silver 2013 Elantra in October of 2012 primarily to keep the miles, snow, and salt off of my S2000. I'm really enjoying the car though, and glad I switched to Hyundai instead of sticking to Honda when it comes to a practical, efficient car.
I'm not sure what trim level my car is. I would guess GLS, but I know it doesn't have some of the features that the GLS had in the brochure. I assume the 6-speed manual is fully bare and cheaptastic and thus something below GLS, which is fine by me.
Looking forward to getting to know how to maintain the car once the warranty expires. I've already put 28,000 miles on the car, so that'll happen before I know it.
Only one glitch has occured in my ownership, and that was the transaxle refusing to go into reverse after only 400 miles. Fortunately, it was taken care of very well by Hyundai. They towed it that night, got me in a rental, and put in a brand new transmission after a couple days. No problems since! *knocks on wood.

I just bought another 05 Elantra Hatch as a birthday present and second car.
I just replaced the 05 GT hatch that I lost in an accident 3 years ago, when the Elantra's performance suspension saved my life in a 50+mph 50+ yard double drift (right drift, back L wheel hit median, left drift) on a curve with traffic and a drop off, after getting t-boned on the right B-pillar to rear door by a jackrabbiting Explorer. Cops were shaking their heads saying for sure I should have flipped sideways & died except for that. See why I love this car? Hard time finding one with ABS+the package again, but worth it, worth it....
In the 3 weeks I've owned it, I've had the timing and water pump swapped and done the 120K mile maintenance, swapped out a left axle (had a torn boot & compromised lube), changed a stripped lug, rear brake job and turned the front rotors, the Altron Sunroof mod (the guys in my local dealership were impressed), in process of removing dealership painted-on logo, cargo net off ebay, and a 12V/cigarette change to always on (through fuse panel, no wiring change). I'm thinking of debadging and going Avante with it, buying the Shark door cups, and adding the K&N air filter, and purchasing a new set of TYC Headlight assys so I can mod the old ones. Maybe smoke the side markers and/or make them into turn signals as well. Suggestions? Where do I find Avante logo mats?
