Hello members

As you may or may not know, today we mark up another year of ElantraClub! I think that's 12 years the internet has been graced with the best resource for all your Elantra needs!

So I thought it would be fun to pose its members these questions:

What brought you to ElantraClub? And,
Why have you stayed?

I originally came here while searching for information regarding changing my stereo. I found the wiki with the wiring diagram and terrific photos to be a great resource. Then I found so much more info!

That was several years ago. After signing up and becoming more involved in the community, I found a group of friendly, knowledgeable people who were more than happy to help. I've pretty much transformed my 2002 XD from a stock A-B car into a completely different beast, and I have the Club to thank for that laugh.gif

I'd love to hear what our community has to say!

Why have you stayed?

Yep, bought 2 Elantras in one year and had some questions. That was in 2005, it's been a wild ride and sure things have gotten mild but it's still a good place to get auto info and have a good laugh (now that Eddie's back the laffs are even better!).

The real reason i came here is because exd is super lame. Happy anniversary.

Technically, I did buy my 5 Speed Chianti Red Elantra GT in July of 2002 which was 12 years ago. But... I didn't actually start ElantraClub (then called "The Hyundai Elantra GT Club") until that October. October 2012 is our actual 12th anniversary.

Still this is an awesome topic Branton and I'll tell you why I started EC.

At the time I bought my GT, I sort of took a leap of faith with Hyundai. I had been one of those anti-Hyundai "snobs" but the GT was just too much car to pass up (for the money). And then there was the warranty.

Fast forward a few months to October 2002 and I realized that the GT and Hyundai were legit. I decided to get the word out to the non-believers and get them to understand Hyundai's "Driving is Believing" slogan was truth. I guess I became a sort of Hyundai evangelist. tongue.gif

And trust me, I worked my ass off gathering every bit of information I could for the new club. Every review I could find got posted. Every pic too. I added every customizing idea I could think of that people might be interested in. Then I started a forum for the club. Then the DIY Zone...

All of that on freakin' 28.8 AOL dialup. That's dedication.

A lot has happened since then but two things have remained constant. I want EC to succeed and I want EC to be the best.

- Mitch

What brought me here? My sunroof stopped working and I was looking for answers to make it work again. What I got was a whole new motor, since it turned out the clutch broke on the motor... and a new community.

What keeps me here? That community, the people in it, and knowing that i have a hand in making it go. Hopefully the people that come here understand everything that Mitch has thrown into this Club and can find a way to pay it forward and keep it strong for a long time.

I first found this site when i was shopping for my first car, which turned out to be the 11' Limited i now own. I visited many times as a guest looking for info on modifications. I knew that because the elantra was the cheapest car in its segment that i would have extra money to put into modifications right away. Even though i never owned a car before this, i have always had a passion for all things car, so this site gave me a great feeling.

After i purchased the car i immediately signed up as a member here and received such a warm welcome. A short time later i made sure i donated so that i could have lifetime status here, i actually got it cheaper than regular price as Mitch was running a special offer at the time. It was just too good to pass up as i knew that the people and information here were invaluable. Every post or question is met with tons of opinions, advice, expertise and experiences.

I could not have picked a better car to own nor a better club to be a member of, cheers to all those who make it a joy and a privilege to call this club home.

i got the 02 Gt with my girlfriend at the time And i co-signed since my credit WAS good...
anyway i loved the features and saw the potential to compete with a family full of tuners from cali but with somethi g different than civic or golf... i originally really wanted a protege5 or z24 cav
but the warranty and features were too good to say no..

it may seem crazy now, but back the. leather and trip computer And sunroof were big deals...

anyway my first car was a 1992 Excel 5spd, so i was already a hyundai believer... and in the mid 90s i was a TrakAuto/Pepboys regular blowing every dollar of my crap 5.15 hr paycheck on my car one way or Another..

so being so happy with the GT i got online and searched for every blip of info... leading me to EGTclub... i printed EVERY single DIY out and mAde a binder... but i never joined the ezboard...

i cant recall who it was who invited me here from hyundAi performance

maybe it was mitch, colin, roy, ilan, scott, telly, ... i honestly had such a good time here i forgot...

i stAyed till 2008ish cuz of all the car forums out there i had been on, none were such a cool group of folks... the douchebag ratio was incredibly low, and there were alternAtive places for them too muster,

eclu. becAme a therapy And the only way for me to mKe it thru the day...

went thru some horrible life events including divorce homelessness and the death of my son..
i've had ups and downs and mood swings... and even tho most of yall I only know thru screen names and jpegs, some of yall have put up with me for almost 10 years...

i stick Round even tho i havent had an elantra in 6 1/2 years because i like to see what yall gotta say...

different personalities And a variety of viewpoints... whether its obama, guncontrol, new cars, old cars, offtopic etc - we generally all get along and keep it amicable to an extent

the admin staff is top notch and el presidente is kind enough to not banished me all these years of deranged ramblings.. smile.gif

just wish the group groping could start again *

Oh no, I'm so sorry... the correct answer is The Moops.

The packaging clearly stated '100'. I'm short ONE luft balloon.

What brought you to ElantraClub?
I used to be part of TucsonDrivers when I had my 2005 Tucson and being part of a club is always useful for support and information. I joined within days of buying my 2013 Elantra GT (Sep 2012)

Why have you stayed?
The people and information, but mostly the people.

I'm loving these responses! It looks like the Club is even more important that I imagined.

Well I stumbled upon the old "main page" when I puchased my 2004 Elantra GT. Was always interested in modding my cars, so naturally I spent hours upon hours looking at the modification sections and perusing the pictures of members car. I stumbled over to the old EZ board forum shortly before it converted into this platform. Took me a little bit to start posting as I had never been part of a forum before and spent more time reading than posting. After a bit and realizing most people here didn't bite (I did say most), I became a VIP member and haven't looked back. Been through a couple cars since then, but stuck around because of the members even when I didn't have an Elantra.
