I bought this 2006 Kia Rio 5 SX with 42,000 miles for only $4500.

The owner, a friend of my GF's, wanted $6000 for it and I jokingly said that I would give him $4500 for it.

I didn't know he had been trying to privately sell it since December and he accepted my offer.

$4500 and it has a 10 year / 100,000 warranty. DAMN!

My GF gave her mom her 2006 Chevy Malibu Maxx (gas guzzler) and will be driving this Rio 5.

AND she has given me the green light to MOD it out.

...goes to look for the biggest tires I can put on it.

OH, and this was my 1000th post.

Cool, I think that generation/style of Rio hatchback is cute in a spunky way, with that black molding around it and that antenna on the roof.
Careful though, that the 10y/100k powertrain warranty probably does not transfer to you unless he bought an extension of the bumper-to-bumper warranty or something. Otherwise it'll be out of warranty within a year, but their quality's pretty good I think.

Looks like a nice buy for a good price. Do they have the betaII in them or what?

Congrats on the new car. As far as the above, once you transfer title, you would be SOL. Hyundai wouldn't honor the warranty no matter who drove it in. But even so, you have yourself a nice car at a great price and you should have full warranty coverage for the next 18,000 miles or year or so (depending on when he originally bought it). The dealer might not check the registration if the first owner brought it in. That being said, it might be considered fraudulent...

I do like those Rio5's

Yea, what's the engine. Would it be the 1.6L that the Accent has?

What are the modding plans? 22s? laugh.gif

i was supposed to be off today but my temp called in sick
and the Rio was behind my Elantra so i drove it to work.

oh yeah, manual everything:

the way it picked up made me smile:

one thing i noticed is that it feels like its being held back when just coasting.
like, it i'm not pushing the gas, it totally feels like something is holding the car back.
i didn't notice that before.

Nice little car! We were looking at buying one new but the ONLY KIA dealer in my region would not deal. So we bought an Accent which is practically the same car!

Nice find and a good price!

Sounds like DFCO - deceleration fuel cut-off. The ECU turns off the fuel injectors and uses the engine as a compression brake to help you slow down and burn less gas.

Try this for me - when you go to coast, bump it into neutral - does the feeling stay or does it disappear?
