nice runs! your taillight is out smile.gif

the auto really kills those cars. it is just too bad that one out of every 1000 made is a manual.

not my taillight. if I see the guy again ill make sure to let him know that his IS is missing a light out back.

it wasn't as fast as I thought it would have been. I have seen they make 210 flywheel hp so I guess its a high 14 sec car?

im going to get some videos today of 0-60 and basic pull videos of my elantra. going to get another dyno done sometime soon and may actually try hitting the track this Friday night for the opening of our local track. hoping for bottom 15's.

Best I ever got out of the Elantra with intake, exhaust and wheels/tires was a 16 flat (16.001). THat was on a cool (air temp in the 60's) and the best launch I'd ever had.

mid 2's IIRC. That time slip faded away into obscurity a long time ago. But if my memory serves me correct, I was usually in the 2.4-2.6 60'.

im hoping the elantra is quicker than that. 16's seems quite slow for the cars that i have been beating around here. im hoping friday i will be able to get a few runs to see. i know to stage shallow to cut the 60 foot down and ill reset the ECU and install my SRI to get the most power out of my setup.

im also thinking of jacking the rear tire pressure up to 45+psi, removing the spare tire and jack plus going to try to run on less than a 1/4 tank.

do you think a high 15 would be possible with a 2.0-2.2 60 foot?

If the stars are aligned, it's a slight downhill grade, there's a tailwind and you use a CAI instead of the hot air sucking SRI, then MAYBE. I wouldn't get my hopes up. Stock in ideal testing the cars were 16.7 1/4-mile cars. reality is in stock form with normal people behind hte wheel, they were a high-16's car. to drop a full second will be hard on an engine that just refuses to make power over stock levels.

that's a bummer, ill change my goals to 16.50's then. if I can best a 16.5 ill be happy. any advice? I have been drag racing for years but never really been trying in a FWD car. I know to stage early, pump the rear tires up as high as possible, remove as much weight as possible, run on 1/4 tank or less....im going to launch it at 4-4500 rpm with front tire pressure at 32psi.

oh and its a CAI but not with a cone filter. I have the stock airbox with a k&n drop in which is fed by a ram air hose from the fog light opening in the front bumper. would you consider this to still be a SRI?

It's something. Not sure what I'd call it. You'll still be restricted to whatever airflow the stock box and filter can move.

If you try to clutch drop at 4500, you'll have horrific 60' times because the front tires will light up like a christmas tree. IIRC, and this depends on the track prep etc, but 300-3500 was about as high as you really wanted to get the engine for a launch. Any more and traction was non-existent.
