Just got a response back from SFR. They sent me to this link saying it would be the same tune https://sfrusa.3dcartstores.com/Seoulfulrac...lash_p_155.html looking at it, price is 350 with sent ecu or extra 200 with core charge. Sounds pretty promising. Thoughts?

Seems like a good deal. But i want to see dyno numbers first. If you do this you should get the car on one.

I'll order it eithert tomorrow or Saturday (depending which one is pay day) and dyno before and after on a mustang to see what happens. Min 8 hp for $350.... Using rule of thumb $50/hp That's not bad... If u get 20... Rock on. -Ed ayatollah of rock and rollaaaaaaaaaaaa I'm hoping to get some good gains. The ECU has to adjust of course maybe giving me hiccups, but I was wondering if I should get a wideband to monitor the AFR and make sure my engine doesn't go boom. -------------------- A proud member of the club.

I really wouldn't worry about it to much. 15hp gain is very conservative tune, But wouldn't be a bad idea.

I could probably check if it's running too rich or to lean through the 02 sensors with a reader no? -------------------- A proud member of the club.

It couldn't hurt to monitor it, but like slow said, 15 hp is pretty modest. If you have a smartphone (I'm assuming you do), I'd go on Amazon via the EC Mall and buy a WiFi or BlueTooth OBDII scanner. Then buy an app such as Dash Command if you have an iPhone or Torque if you have an Android. All in should cost you about $30-$40. If you're going to get into tuning, it's not a bad idea to be able to see what's going on. I have the WiFi OBDII scanner with Dash Command and use it on my Mustang and love it. Tons of good info. -------------------- |

I actually do use Dashcommand. I mainly used it to read codes though, but most of the time I use it to see my gas mileage on long trips. Thanksfor the tip though. -------------------- A proud member of the club.

Update: Discussed more with SFR. can't tune the beta1. all you beta2 guys are good though. I'm kinda considering a piggy back system at the moment to be honest.

From what I've seen, guys with piggy back on Beta 1 says it works fine in open loop but runs like $#!/ in closed loop. Because the ecu tries to adapt. So it's basically standalone ecu or nothing. But for the price vs gains, you could buy a used wet nitrous kit and/or a transmission with a lower final drive ratio and get better gains. -------------------- 2000 Elantra

I did get word from my brother saying BTR is in Illinois near Chicago and since I'm driving up there I'll probably check them out and discuss with them in person since everything tends to appear better approaching than typing. -------------------- A proud member of the club.

Both SFR and BTR are very respectable tuners for the Hyundai family. Outside of those 2... I wouldn't trust custom tunes unless you have a personal relationship with them.
I'm inclined to trust Jay from SFR. He has done a lot of good stuff for some buddies of mine. Also - Dashcommand for the win haha I love that app. I made a modified version of the LFA skin not too long ago and am a big fan. -------------------- 2008 Hyundai Elantra SE / Carbon Grey / Incus Body Kit / Sold at 98,400 miles 2011 Hyundai Genesis Coupe Premium / Black / Current DD at 43,000 miles |
