Here are the first actual shots of the new Hyundai Avante (our Elantra) on the production line. Honestly, I'm a bit disappointed. It's essentially the same as the outgoing model with a revised front end and new interior. I actually like the previous gen's interior better. This is a somewhat blah update IMO. Definitely no radical changes here. Hopefully the car will be much improved on the mechanical side.

I would also agree. I have a 2012, and love the exterior. Minor issues with the interior such as the defective (pealing) leather wrapped steering wheel, but other than that I prefer the older versions. I personally do not like the new headlight assy., with the stark white contrast on the interior that snakes around the housing. I think it lights up, or possibly reflective. I'm not sure which.

The nose kind of screams "Ford Fusion from a generation ago." But not in a good way. The pedals are cool, but it's missing one. wink.gif

I never cared for the current gen interior.
This one, need to see in person to make a decision.

I was thinking more the current Focus front end.

I like the interior, but not for a new car. If that makes sense...

The interior is basically ok but looks too blah/conservative for this new model.

I read an interesting comment in a blog post this week. It was from a guy who also thought this car was a disappointment. He said Hyundai seems to get it wrong every other generation of their cars. Take the Elantra for example. XD = hit, HD = disappointment, MD = hit, AD = disappointment. Just saying. wink.gif

Rumor has it that the drivetrain options will include a 1.6-liter turbocharged 175 hp engine with a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Not bad, but... why does the 1.6 turbo in the current Forte SX make 201 hp?

I added a poll to this topic... please take it.

Detune it so not to down play the forte. And btw, It about damn time!!
The interior looks like kia got to it. most of the new Kia stuff has this very interior. Not bad just a step back.
The taillights make me want the smash them with a hammer. The front is not much better.

Not enough of a down-turned "mouth" for the Focus. The Focus looks tougher, meaner if you will.

The 2016 VT has that DCT. if it is anything like the 2012-2015 non turbo DCT, it is going to be an epic failure. Korean tuners have stated the existing DCT can't handle more than a few ponies over stock lol.
