Factory alarm problem with 2008 Elantra GLS Options

On the other side of the key fob is a "panic" alarm button which sets off the alarm. Be sure you are not accidentally pressing it. I have a couple of times when I have bumped in to some thing or bent over with a lot of stuff in my pocket.

Thanks, Bob. I'm aware of the panic button, but the place I put my key fob in my jeans, there's no way I've bumped it. And most of the time when the alarm went off randomly, the fob was sitting on a table or something, anyways. I've unhooked the hood pin, and so far haven't had the problem since. I need to run by the dealer to get the new hood thingamabob to fix the problem correctly.

As another data point; on two occasions, I returned from a trip and found my '09 with a dead battery. No doubt it was due to the alarm randomly going off. Last night it went off twice with no apparent reason. I armed the system (takes 30 sec after locking) and lifted and pulled at the doors and trunk. When I lifted the hood slightly on the passenger side, sure enough, the alarm went off. I subsequently found the TSB and am reasonably sure that's the problem. Interestingly, the dealer was clueless and didn't have the part in stock.
