You guys definitely put me to shame.
I have: Armor All Car Wash Armor All Auto Glass Cleaner Meguiars Cleaner Wax Meguiars Leather Care (every oil change) Next Dimension Leather wipes (every other wash or so) Rain-X wipes And I used to have some Armor All matte finish Dash Wipes, but now I can't find them in any store I've looked in recently! In decent weather I wash, dry, vacuum, quick-detail, and clean windows about weekly. I wax when the water doesn't bead up as much. I think my chamois got dropped by the kids because I have lots of swirlies now. I'm hoping that the Meguiars will help out but I think I'll try their Clay Bar kit once the weather starts to improve. I also need to clean the engine compartment. -------------------- A proud member of the club.

I must be a slacker, I only have a "california duster" and a little duster for the inside. My car is starting to look pretty rough though, so maybe I'll invest in some detailing stuff...

I do have a foam-type chamois that's worked great for me but I'll need to replace it this year I think.
Whenever I've used towels I get scratches. -------------------- A proud member of the club.

Do you have any m/f towels gonzo? Not all are created equal either. There is a cd test i guess. Take a cd and rub the m/f towel on it. If you get scratches on the cd them it is no good for the paint finish

If you get scratches on the cd them it is no good for the paint finish Perhaps I was interpreting it wrong ... like: the m/f car won't start again, or the m/f dog chewed my shoe again ... So what's m/f then? -------------------- A proud member of the club.

QUOTE (oiml8 @ Feb 25 2005, 02:02 PM) ooooooooohhhh that makes sense now! Yeah, I can be a dumbaxe at times ...thick as a brick... not the sharpest knife in the drawer ... one fry short of a happy meal ... and all that. At my expense? Feel free to charge that account as much as you like.
Man, I figure if I can't laugh at myself I have no business laughing at anyone else. We're all dumb and clueless sometimes - some more often than others - and I've all but lost my inhibition to admitting my faults, weaknesses, etc. -------------------- A proud member of the club.

Microfiber (or microfibre if you're from Canadia) towels are what you're after. They're a sort of über-wicking ultra-soft synthetic material. They're best found at Costco, but I've used the Sam's Club ones without any problems. The best tip I can give: If one hits the ground while you're using it, don't use it again until you've washed it. These things pick up ANYTHING they touch.
