Were just glad your ok, Hopefully people were insured, how are the insurance companies handling the water damage claims? Are they calling it flood damage or act of god or what?
Its makes such a difference when people reach out to help, here in NYC we received a lot of love from all over. I hope things work out for you and yours and everyone else thats been affected by this disaster. What part of PA you from, I might be moving there soon. -------------------- We have -- as Ben Franklin warned us we should never do -- traded away our freedom to get a little security. Glad you and your loved ones are ok! After I saw the damage in Mississippi, I didn't know what to expect. You are so right about what you see on TV vs. seeing it with your own eyes.
You seem like a headstrong person who has his priorities straight. I hope the best of luck to you and your loved ones. I am sure you will come out of this disaster a much stronger person. QUOTE (gpagpa @ Sep 12 2005, 11:20 AM) WEll im sure the interior is pretty bad, the carpet might need to be replaced Im not sure about the electrical system. im sure the battery is shot, and as long as water didnt fill up th engine it should be salvageable, but there is nothing blocking the water from going through the exaust manifold into the engine though... so i dunno -------------------- Lead, Follow, Or get out of the way!

QUOTE Elantra or not, you have a lot of friends here so I hope you stick around ok? yes definetly.... i will have no problem sticking around to help out others and also i have intentions of owning a hyundai again someday.... i disconnected the battery terminal before the water got too high... but when i tried to turn it over it made a nasty grinding/gargling sound from inside the block. and my alarm wont disarm.... and my tachs go bezzerk. so everything electrical is destroyed.. and seeing as how most cars now a days are about 80% electrical..... i'd say its totaled but i have to get the consent from an insurance agent before i can proceed...altho i would have to say itd be awsome if they totalled it out.... and it got paid off and i got it back. id fix it eventually... i went to the base where my car rests in peace and got my wheels off..... next is my intake. and gettin a saws-all and taking the muffler off...... QUOTE So if a car is flooded up the roof, there is no hope and totaled? well, seeing as how the water is salt water.... it is gonna rust the hell of all exposed metal. and i can only imagine it wont be long before the whole bottom of my car is rusted to hell. my rotors are already rust coated.....and there is mold growing all over my back seat and in my hatch area. smells like shit lol.... QUOTE IS the mail still delivering?? Im sure My family and I could spare alot of food and water and mail it to you if needed??? man i appreciate it very much, that is a very good offer... mail just recently started getting deliverd, i think as of the 10th or 11th.......right now we are alright on food and water and such... my dad was part of a working party passing out free ice and water to people. so he brings home a case or 2 of drinking water every night. and we have some food...but if you have some hot wings. SEND EM!. lol j/k..... chicken is hard to come by.. all i want is a friggin hot wing and ill be happy haha.. QUOTE What part of PA you from, I might be moving there soon. currently i am not living in pennsylvania... but thats my home town and im in pa alot....... i use to live about an hour/hour and a half from pittsburgh.... i live in Tarrs. its near towns "greensburg"..."mt pleasant".."connellsville"..Uniontown" QUOTE You seem like a headstrong person who has his priorities straight thank you.. i am still upset at the fact that my car was destroyed... but seeing as how my family is alive and well is enough to make me happy... we very well could have died from this... if we would have went to the wrong place..... so losing my car sucked, but it is replacable.... i have a younger sister and a younger brother.... my bro is 8... and my sis is 13 here in a week..... and i have both my parents.... i can live without a car. but i dont know what i would do if i had lost one of my family.... the reason i came from pa to mississippi as soon as i did is i wanted to be here with my family for the hurricane.... i had heard it was predicted to be a bad storm. so i wanted to be with my family to help out any way possible... in fact my bus was temporarily canceled after i had reached montgomery alabama.. which is like 7 hours away..... but luckily the hurry up and let all of us get to our destinations...... QUOTE Hopefully people were insured, how are the insurance companies handling the water damage claims? Are they calling it flood damage or act of god or what? people are allowed to purchase flood insurance but under a few circumstances... the circumstances here are... if you live in a potential flood zone area you are allowed.... but if your area is not a potential flood zone, then no you cannot..... but there is a big dispute going on because the ones who lived in a non-flood area had their houses destroyed and everything they owned gone... and the insurance companies will not talk to them because they didnt have flood insurance.... so i guarantee theres gonna be a shit load of lawsuits here soon... im actually anxious to see what this becomes of.... if you wanna see something neat... go here 3 doors down since 3 doors down are from here in mississippi... they encorperated one of their songs off their new cd along with this disaster....the song is "here by me" by three doors down but its the hurricane katrina version.. it has public anouncements in the song. pretty neat and it has a very touching video...check it out it shows the damage real well in mississippi... one thing i will say is very unique about here is all the houses i seen obliviated and totaled you look and see a pile of stone and wood and right in the middle of every house is an american flag.... i am very suprised with everyones spirit here in ms. very positive considering the condition..... i wanna add somethin else:: this was a very touching news report on the news i seen a young girl about 7,8 years of age..... and she and her mother lost everything all of her toys all her clothes.. and she wasn't upset or crying she was smiling and happy, and the news reporter had asked the young girl why she was so happy.. and her answer was "because my mommy's alright again thanks for the questions and offers...... any more questions i will be more than happy to answer... there is alot to know about down here now... so ask away.. thanks -Devin- This post has been edited by 2k4ElantraGT: Sep 12 2005, 06:38 PM -------------------- |

Hey Devin,
I'm so glad you and your family are alright. I've been checking the board every day and praying that we would hear from you. I know it's not just a mom thing because everyone here has been checking in to see if you are o.k. Sorry about your car but I'm so glad your house is intact. So many people have lost so much. It must seem unreal at times. Keep us posted on the progress. -------------------- A proud member of the club.

Marc in Ohio.... yea emotions run very high all over the world for everyone here..but people hide it well.. but it is undeniable that its painful for everyone... its one of those situations where you just wish you had the power to put some kind of force filled around all those affected to protect them... .. QUOTE Hey Devin, I'm so glad you and your family are alright. I've been checking the board every day and praying that we would hear from you. It must seem unreal at times. Keep us posted on the progress. Thank You So Much. i am doing fine except for my car, but i can manage. i have my family. and that is so so so much more important than anything in the world i could possibly buy.. anyone who i care about as long as their safe im happy.. QUOTE You are OKAY, your family is OKAY. That's what counts. Glad you pulled through. Sorry about the car. My prayers are still out to you, friend. Blessings and Peace to you and yours I could not agree with you more.. it sucks that i lost my car because i wanted to be a registered member in the worse way. but with what happened i cant. no car. no money lol. which sucks. but im going to stick around anyhow because i care for everyone on this site... and i appreciate everyones help and concern.. ___________________________________________________________________ i was stunned when i walked out to my car i seen my girlfriend at the gate almost in tears, i walked up concerned, and she told me that her house had got flooded and she lost everything. and all i could do is hold her tight and tell her i love her.... everyone in my car club i guess lost their cars excets for a few.... few of my friends got flooded..... one thing i do wanna get off my chest... im not prejudice or anything.. but im a little pissed off that everyone over in New Orleans Is Blaming This Catastrophe as a racial issue... i would have to venture to say the majority of the %%% of that city is african american..... way even before the flood... i agree that there should be more help over there. but can you imagine how hard it is getting all those 100 of thousands of people out of there as quickly as they had to....they had to call buses from different states. and the main interstate. 10 was backed up so all the buses couldn't get there as fast as they wanted it just pissed me off to hear them say things on the news such as" if i was caucasion i would have been out of here already" "if i wasn't black i would have food and water and be safe far from here" things like that....... but even still all my hopes and prayers go out to them over there also.. Thank You Everybody Once Again I Cannot Say Thank You Enough -------------------- |
