GM has always made it's own engines. The 6.2/6.5 was never known to be a powerful or quick engine like the new diesels, but were know to last 350-400k miles. We had a couple 6.2 with 200-290k miles on them and they ran great. The only problem the olds 350 diesels had was cheap head bolts. They were gas head bolts designed for 9:1 compression trying to hold diesel heads on a 18.5: motor.

But all their truck diesels are workhorses.

I've been driving around in a 3-door Getz for the last few days.
It is a 2007 model with only 20K Km on the clock, and I'm pretty impressed.
It is quite a quiet car, and sips very little fuel. Also shifting is damn easy on it!
It keeps up with the traffic easily, and loves to rev, and the engine note isn't too bad either for a 1.3L.

I highly recommend it as a rental car. wink.gif

What happened to the Elantra Mark?

The Getz really isnt a bad little car. I had a 1.4 DOHC while the dealer was stuffing me around. It was a 4sp Auto. To be honest I think it felt more solid than my Elantra!

The whole car felt very strong. Like Mark also said, it really doesnt sound so bad either.

Digging up an old thread, but never mind.

I have owned the European version of the 1.4L Getz for the last 9 months and I love it. It is nippy and light, and very fuel efficient. The only modification I've done is popped in a K&N Filter. Other than that, I've got a set of rims for it, which are in a long process of refurbishment.
I love it, and it will be my daughters car when she starts driving.

Gee Mark, We owned a 2007 Getz for 2 years and it was an excellent small car! We also had the 1.4 5spd 5door version ... It was a great little car, very easy to drive and only averaged 5.7litres constantly.

I see in Europe Hyundai even dumped the 1.5 Crdi U Diesel engine into it! that would be a little pocket rocket!
