I just got my Elantra SE three weeks ago or so, I have the ipod setup and all and I've got a first gen Ipod touch 8GB.

Here is the issue... If I get in, turn the car on it attempts to load the ipod... and displays "Error Loading" on the lcd of the head unit.

Here is the catch....

If I get in, turn it on to accessories... just before ignition... wait a couple seconds... the ipod loads right up no issue.

I'm using the hyundai ipod cable and I've flashed the ipod to factory defaults and it's the same thing. I've also used a 3g iphone - same issue / results.

Anyone noticing this?

I'm thinking it's because the radio is "timing out" waiting for the ipod to turn on... because if I wait with accessories only on... it starts playing.

Something stupid, but annoying... it wont even fix itself if I dont wait... I'd have to pull over, turn car off, then turn accessories on, wait a second, then turn the car on. ahhh lol.

You know I think my co-worker was mentioning something like this with his GenCoupe... I'll have to ask him about it tomorrow.

Thanks!

It's something simple and very stupid. Just rather annoying actually. Best thing I can say is, when it works it's awesome, when it dosent... well is sux.

Works when you play the turn on game haha..

Another thought, when it gives the error message, if you were to unplug the ipod and wait a couple seconds does the message go away?
Could you then plug the ipod back in? This is with the car running/on

yes, same situation which makes me think that the ipod is taking too long to turn on and the radio says screw that, but once the ipod comes on or if I turn the ipod on and plug it into the car while the car is running / engine on - it does the same thing. The only time the head unit will play music from the ipod is when I keep it plugged in, turn acc on, wait a second, then turn the car on... ipod boots up and head unit plays.

I notice it when the car has been off for a while - more than a hour.

If I do quick stops, to stores and such, it has no problems.

I've tried with a 3g and will try today with a 3gs as well to see if I can replicate it on a 3rd apple device.

OK. I'm having difficulty with my i-pod as well. I was in a hurry to get to work today so I didn't have time to stop and restart the car or mess around with i-pod some more but here what happened when I used the i-pod feature.

On any given day, when I use just the auxillary jack cable with the 2 male ends and the stereo is in [aux] mode then the i-pod works just fine and I can control my i-pod. The downside - I'm not getting a charge (unless I connect from the cigarette lighter - I don't like wires strewn everywhere while I'm driving).

When I used the i-pod usb jack connector this morning, the i-pod just starts playing random songs on it's own and my i-pod reads "do not disconnect" like it's loading something. However, my display unit reads all the songs as mp3 format(the titles of the songs don't display though) and I can press the seek buttons to skip to the next song. Bear in mind that it was playing songs in a random order. There was no particular playlist. The i-pod is a gen 2 i-pod so its pretty old and it has given me issues in the past. ...but as I said, I couldn't trouble shoot because I was in a hurry to get to work. I'll try a different i-pod and keep you guys updated. music2.gif wrench.gif

Full Edit: Keep in mind too that when the i-pod is being played from the USB jack then it plays automatically without me putting the i-pod in [aux] mode or pressing play on my i-pod for that matter.

I have a 2009 Elantra GLS and at first had problems with my Ipod Touch 2G (newest firmware) with different cables I already had.

Finally I just ordered an official Hyundai adapter from an eBay seller. It was around $23 shipped. Now it works perfect without errors.

The adapter I got is short and has the lineout and USB combined on one end. Is this the cable others are using here?

Yes sounds like the same, has a block on the end with usb and aux jack and on the other is the apple dock connector end. Cable is about 5-6 inches, black. Got mine from hyundai where I bought the car (jerks couldn't toss it in free ya know) lol.

I used the i-pod USB charger/cable that came with my ipod and thats when I start having problems. Like I said though, my i-pod only wants to work independently when I use the 2 earphone male end connectors that I bought at Best Buy from the company called Garmin and I have to put the stereo in AUX mode.

Theres an easy way to fix it. Junk the ipod that gives you nothing but shit, and buy a zune. 1. It's compatible with windows. 2. it doesn't have a shitload of problems like ipods. 3. THey're pretty cool. My g/f has a I think it's a first gen nano the 2g one. It's been a piece of shit since she bought it when they were brand new.
