ElantraClub - For Elantra Owners and Enthusiasts _ The Elantra Detailing Forum _ Fiance took ice scraper to my New 2016 Elantra Limited! Help!

Ouch. Welcome to Elantraclub, sorry it isn't under better circumstances.

Without seeing the damage in person, it's impossible for me to tell how deep the scratches are.
Hopefully it can be buffed out. A general rule of thumb is, if you can feel the scratch with your fingernail, it will have to be wetsanded and then buffed.

I would take the car to a knowledgeable automotive detailer, they will be able to determine what can be fixed, what can't, and give you an estimate for repair cost. You could also ask local bodyshops, as they would know as well. But I would ask the detailer FIRST as the bodyshop is more likely to lie to you to in order to sell you a full paint job.

Basically if it needs ANY painting, file an insurance claim.
