Gloss blk around windo is nice.
I would pop out plastic pillar and paint them easy than wrap, I saw a lot MD in Korea do 2 tones like front grill , hood, roof, trunk one color and body one color. -------------------- |

Plasti-dipped the grille as described in another thread. This is a redux, and will probably be followed by another redux in which I'll paint the upper and lower grilles with actual gloss paint and cover the metal part between with gloss black vinyl. OK, like I said -- I wasn't thrilled with that, so I did a redo of the redo, or redo-do -- no, that doesn't sound good. I used Gloss Black Scotchprint 1080 vinyl wrap on the middle part of the bumper cover and the chrome bits. For the black plastic of the upper and lower grilles, I spray painted them with Rust-Oleum gloss black (yeah, what the heck -- figured it's not far enough from stock to matter). I did put a strip of Scotchprint 1080 Sky Blue vinyl wrap on the upper chrome piece -- not a full cover of it, just 3/8" or so on the edge to add some color and break up the sea of black. I have a plan for the logo which will also incorporate the Sky Blue. It's not a perfect match for the car color (and isn't metallic) but it's close enough when it's not right next to the body color (at least, it looks close to me). I'm digging it in a way that I think might last more than six months. I might grow to dislike the blue strip, but for now, I'm liking it. Also a shout-out to Greg since the black paint on his grille was what gave me the idea. -------------------- A proud member of the club.

That looks awesome. Definitely makes it POP, and the subtle blue gives it an edge I'm digging. The gloss looks great, much more so than the matte you used to have.

Thanks.
I should put the plasti-dip try in the "mods gone bad" thread. The problem was the splotchy "glossifier" crap -- just didn't do what I expected. Might work better on parts that don't have such a large area. It was easy to get off though. By the way, rubbing alcohol gets off stubborn stuff. Another thing I forgot to mention -- I originally put that thin, cheapo flex-chrome stuff on the sides to use as a guide for cutting when I was done. But when I was covering it too, I thought it looked pretty good, so I left it on there. It really gives it a nice edge instead of just ending flat against the body color. It was also really easy to cut the extra vinyl off the outside edge since I could cut in towards the 3M tape (knife blade parallel to the body) instead of worrying about cutting with paint underneath. -------------------- A proud member of the club.

Looks great. But i'm still partial to the plasti-dip (always loved the matte look).

Looks nice. The gloss goes good with the shininess of the stock paint.

It didn't seem to me that the blue was showing up well in pictures because of the glare on the gloss black, so I took a picture with less direct sunlight this morning...

Gloss looks really good here with the theme you have going. It looks more tied-together than it did before, in my opinion. Also, the blue strip does a nice job of pulling the headlights into the design. A light color there seems to continue the line of the headlights, whereas I think sometimes when that upper grille is all blacked out, the headlights can look sort of left out. And it does double-duty by pulling in the body color (appears to match very nicely from here). I love watching your car evolve!

Thanks Nym.
I thought about that at one point Lou -- even mocked it up (in gray, not black though) and I wondered if it was a little too "over-the-top". Not sure. -------------------- A proud member of the club.
