You have to remember, the Elantra = economy car. Miata = sports car. It's like comparing my Z51 vette's steering to the Elantra. Different worlds, meant for different things.

Compare it to a '91 Festiva with "monster" 185/60R13 sticky tires and MANUAL steering. Or a 94 Swift GT with manny steering. I think that car had the slowest steering rack I've ever had! Ain't nothing like crossing your arms trying to negotiate a 45ft slalom! -------------------- Founding Member of the Indiana Chapter of the Teeny Weeny Club for Secure Adult Males

I fixed the suspension issue (450lb frt springs, 550 rear on a 1780lb car), but that slow rack killed me.

Wasn't an option for me in H Stock. I did like the Supertrapp on the car, though. Ran it all summer long.

Autocross #2... signed up for two heats and got a very decent 14 runs yesterday. I seem to remember a 38.2 run but I only see half the runs listed; maybe only one heat counts towards the score? As shown, I started at 41.5 and ended at 38.95. On dry asphalt I feel the differences are larger. The best guys broke under 34 seconds (350Z, Corvettes, even a Lotus Exige and a turbocharged Miata). My times were firmly in Rookie-Land, or Economy-Car-Land with the Ford Focus (40.54), Mazdaspeed3 (38.35) and 1989 Opel Kadet (38.04!).
I'm realizing I can't keep doing this with all-season tires. Nobody else is on all-seasons. They all use the barely-street-legal racing / summer UHP tires with treadwear of like 100. 6134866840_ea2ce9245a_b.jpg ( 313.53K ) Number of downloads: 10 Launch was a rolling start into a tight first slalom turn to discourage clutch abuse. Indeed. That is the correct cornering attitude. Now we need to see white smoke pouring from the inside front wheel well.
