What do you mean by static camber?

car sitting on the suspension, as much negative camber as it can have. As the wheel compresses, that camber rate changes.... static camber is what is referred to as the amount of camber the wheel has at rest.

Alright, I'm an autox idiot and I'm curious. You say chalk your tires, what exactly do you mean? Like take chalkboard chalk and scribble all over the treads so you see your contact pattern after a run?

-Roy

You weren't the only one. I may have googled it yesterday and read all about chalking your tires, then read a couple articles for the autoX newbie that were very insightful. wink.gif

At some point I would like to take my hand at it as I'm sure it would be a ton of fun plus would improve my driving skills. For now, I will just have to take windy mountain passes as my source of fun. biggrin.gif

I do need an alignment, and was thinking about camber bolts for the front. Like i said before the rear is camber already. What do you think? Worth it or nothing but problems?

Rear won't matter a whole lot. You're only going to use one tire at a time. laugh.gif

Just saw your post, I used camber bolts on Porky for several years. I only removed them when she was officially retired. Get all metal ones and tighten the crap out of them so they don't creep. I'd run all of it in front (with bolts, I'd guess around -1.5 to -1.75*) and leave the rear alone. I think stock it sits around -.9 and that is more than enough. Remember, the trick to making a front wheel drive turn is to make the rear as loose as you can drive it. The more grip the rear has, the more the car will want to push.

Dunno. I just bought cheap ones that were all metal from NAPA IIRC.
