Wow, that's uber-cheap. I was figuring on $30-$50 for some. I want to do the center console along the shifter as well as the dash fascia. I think they'd look pretty cool in white. White rims too, on the outside.

On the 3M site and other places, they mention wheels as something to wrap, and I've seen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0aV2H57bES4, but I've never found any follow-up on durability, what happens when you change tires, etc. While paint is also going to suffer if you brush a curb, the vinyl will most likely rip and expose the different color below -- making it more obvious. Depending on the finish, you could probably fix a section and make it look like a reasonable repair until you wanted to do the entire thing again.

If you go with the 3M, I think you could do four wheels for about http://www.metrorestyling.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=GLOSS1080G10 (it's on sale now). The tough part (I actually tried this with a scrap piece at one time) is getting the deep wells between spokes. I notice in the video above that he uses some strips to finish off the inside edges, which would work. You could get a 48x48 piece of the cheaper stuff for about $25, but, personally, I'd go the extra $25 at this point (again, on sale) for the 3M because I've never worked with the cheaper stuff so I don't know how well it stretches, sticks, etc.

I might actually try this, if for no other reason than to add to the body of knowledge on durability. Like I said, I've found no followups anywhere months after it was done.

I just put a piece of it on an old steel door and hit it hard with a hammer at an angle (enough to dent the door) and it marred the finish but didn't rip. Then again, a jagged bit of concrete would do more scraping. Dunno.
