Ok so i finally went to the track! 2 weeks after i was supposed to. i got 4 runs in today @ Englishtown, NJ.
keep in mind i dont street race and dont really drive my car that hard, so launching and shifting fast is all new to me. that being said here is how i did. 1st run: 75 degrees F Humitity 0 Barometer 29.39 R/T - .268 60' - 3.29 330 - 8.60 1/8 - 12.49 MPH - 63.56 1000' - 15.21 1/4 - 18.47 MPH - 83.14 1st time looking at a tree, spun through first, shifted into second and lost all my RPMs. was so pissed i almost coasted down the track but gave it a second shot. 2nd run: same temp and all (10 minutes later) R/T - .459 60' - 2.64 330 - 7.19 1/8 - 10.92 MPH - 65.93 1000' - 14.11 1/4 - 16.77 MPH - 84.71 this run i still spun the tires alot, but i didnt shift, i worked through it. still learning. i also raced head to head against my friends' WRX with 465awhp. theres a link to a video on the bottom Run 3: temp same (15 minutes after 2nd run) R/T - .280 60' - 2.599 330 - 7.138 1/8 - 10.835 MPH - 66.65 1000' - 13.991 1/4 - 16.62 MPH - 85.67 still dumping the clutch and spinning 1st. i kept getting nervous and not paying attention to what i was doing. before the run my friend told me to launch at higher RPMs, but not to dump the clutch and baby it a little. well, i forgot once i got to the line! haha Run 4: we took a little break watched some races, and then it was wreck after wreck which caused us to wait about an hour and a half at least before our next race. cars kept leaking fluids on the track, a stang snapped an axle at launch. so now the sun went down 71 degrees F R/T - .592 60' - 2.486 330 - 6.953 1/8 - 10.64 MPH - 66.53 1000' - 13.79 1/4 - 16.42 MPH - 85.86 best run of the day was the last one. im not happy with the #'s, but for my first time i learned alot. this was all just learning for me. the next time i go back there, i will have my turbo in. i videos of every run tomorrow when i get them off my other friends' camera. enjoy the pics and video Listen to the announcer, he he calls my friends' WRX a WRX in sheeps clothing, and he says "in lane two, i think thats a HI UN DAY" haha -------------------- Cardomain

holy quad post batman
Nice job on the first time at the tree. Try to feather the clutch and let 2.0's torque guide you. Tip: Go out late night on the highway, pull over to the side of the road, make sure NOONE is coming and practice launching. I learned how to launch perfectly this way. not legal, but as safe as can be on the highway you still shaved over 3 seconds in the 1/4 on a stock elantra without knowing how to properly drive on a 1/4 thats respectable man great looking car, nice new numbers. wait till you get that boost and a little more time in the drivers seat, lets see those 13's!!!!!! can't wait brotha! -shawn -------------------- (07:01 PM) elantragt - Hell I couldn't even sell our calendars to all the people who had their car in it! lol

No offense Justin, but there's no way you're running 150+ hp. In upper 80's and hot lapping I ran a 16.56 with intake/muffler only.

definately learn to get the most power on the launch - rather than just dumping.
My first time out (in the stock 2.8 Fiero) I was runnin 17s, and got it down to 15.7-15.9 consistantly. I must say you got slammed by that WRX... but that's a tough one to beat. Can't say I've tried to get the Elantra racing yet, but soon I'm sure.... just to say I've done it - not expecting much. -------------------- carPC Build Thread | My Elantra Site | My Fiero Site | My WebSite | Donate here to keep ElantraClub online and growing. |

Bob: I think the better comparison would be you doing a couple drag runs in his car then. Since those were his first rounds. Tires also matter. I wouldn't run a drag on low pros.

Actually, ET's are squat. Trap speed is the best indicator of true wheel horsepower. Popping in 2800lbs and his "WHP" of 152 he should be trapping about 89-90mph.
My times are almost identical and traps speeds a tick faster with just CAI and a muffler as his. CALCULATOR -------------------- Founding Member of the Indiana Chapter of the Teeny Weeny Club for Secure Adult Males
