Hey all, I'm looking for some insight from the audio pros out there...
Right now, I'm currently running a Pioneer HU hooked up to a Clarion 7-band EQ. I have Pioneer 6X9s in the rear and JL audio components up front. That's all powered with an Alpine 4-channel amp. I absolutely love the way my music sounds. In my opinion, Pioneer makes the best HU when it comes to sound clarity and flexibility, and the EQ makes it even better. The rear 6X9s give me a ton of good clean bass, but I'd like to tone them down a little and get a dedicated sub. I used to have a single 12" Type E in the trunk, but I wanted to get more trunk space back, so I got rid of it. I still need my trunk space, and I'm not into huge booming bass anymore. I listen to jazz, classic rock, movie soundtracks, classical, etc. What I want to do is custom-build a box that fits under the passenger seat and then put a shallow-mount 8" sub in it. With the sub being in the car, it won't need to be very loud- and if an 8" is tuned properly, it can hit pretty low. I also don't want to add another amp if possible.. I feel like I'm taxing my alternator already with the the HU, EQ, amp, and plethora of other accessories I've added to the car over the years. I know many people run 5 speakers to a 4-channel amp- would this be feasible for me? Opinions and suggestions are welcome! Thank you! -------------------- Music Teacher/Geek for life!! |

Ok , so you are on the right track with what you want. But in order to get the best sound you are going to have to add a second amp. Yes you can bridge the sub off the amp but it would stain it way to much and could over heat.
Have you seen this or though about it. You could mount it in the trunk on the rear deck, or just off to the side. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_372_In...?SearchClickout[query_id]=9277511&SearchClickout[Ignore]=1 Or you could just run a 5 channel amp too. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_34363_...ne-MRX-V60.html If a 8 in is what you want here is a few http://www.audiosavings.com/products/8-Inc...8D4/RFX8D4.aspx And here is an 8 that dosent mess around http://www.sundownaudio.com/index.php/prod...l?category_id=2 But im alpine fan http://www.audiosavings.com/products/8-Inc...D/SWR-843D.aspx -------------------- "This may be true but it is a chrysler sebring which is synonomous with being a p.o.s. car. Thanks Kyle for all the suggestions!
I posted this in another topic, but I just got a good used Bazooka 8" tube. I'm so impressed with this little thing- it's perfect for my needs. Big sound, little space. I was curious if anyone has ever ordered something like this... Bass Processor Thoughts? -------------------- Music Teacher/Geek for life!! |

Interesting little device. Not sure how well it would work.
