I have a 2005 hatchback... How do I know if it's a GT or a GTS? What are some differences I would note. Not even my insurance agent was able to figure it out. BTW, I think the hatchback design may be good for trunk storage space, but I still haven't figured out the backing up and parking trips... Can't really see where I am spatially in relation to other objects behind. I tend to err on the side of caution. I will occasionally curse the hatchback designer.

GLS - fabric seats, steel rims w. hubcaps, no cruise control (I think?), no foglights, chrome trim where hood meets grille
GT - leather seats, alloy rims, cruise control, foglights, different gauges with trip computer, matte black trim where hood meets grille

The engine, transmission, suspension, and brakes are the same. Anti-lock brakes were an option on both IIRC.

As for rear-view visibility, you'll get used to it, but it's really not all that different from the sedan, and it's only gotten worse with newer models. My Kia Optima has really poor rear-view visibility, and it's par for the course compared to its peers. Thank goodness I know how to use my mirrors, and the rear view camera will save a lot of accidents.

Hmmmm.... I have fabric seats, no idea about the rims (black), have cruise control, no foglights, have that chrome trim where the engine hood meets the grill, have 3 different gauges on my odometer, one for total mileage, two for trips, I use one to track miles between gasoline fill-ups and the other for daily mileage monitoring...

The black rims are steel, I'm assuming the hubcaps are gone... or a prior owner replaced them. If you had the GT the gauge cluster would have a trip computer that would calculate your MPG and give you a "miles to empty" estimation. Cruise control may have been made a standard option at some point, or it could have been all along and I was misremembering things I knew ten years ago. Yup, that's a GLS hatch.
