good plan ,i hope it works out. Thanks mate, but the plan has come unstuck a little already! Had figured that the alloy wheel on the front of the smashed car would need replacing, so went to the tyre shop to order another wheel yesterday, and found out that this particular wheel is now obsolete. Oh Shyte! It is still showing on the CSA website. Why oh why do they not update their website! Buggers! Thankfully the smashed wheel MAY be repairable. Will check it out. The bloke in the tyre shop said it would cost about $200 to fix that wheel, and the one on the drivers side has gutter rash from when the car hit the kerb. Hopefully $300 should have them ready to be fitted to the silver Elantra. Good news - The Silver Elantra is back home Really enjoyed driving it around yesterday. These are excellent cars - fun to drive and all controls within easy reach. But it now has a fresh dent in the drivers door. Only very minor. My wife is in hospital again and some dufus in the carpark opened their car door onto mine. Expect her to be in hospital for a couple of weeks. Early this year she spent a couple of months there and the sides of my Statesman got absolutely hammered by thoughtless idiots in the carpark. Oh well - Shyte happens! Here are another couple of Hyundais that rolled out of the repair shop this week - The Commodore wagon has also been repaired and will be painted today - Next problem - These cars have to be undergo 2 motor registration inspections before they can be registered, but the waiting list has blown out for the inspections. earliest available bookings are 7 weeks away. Bloody gubbermint bullshyte! Took a BA G220 Fairlane down for inspection last week only to discover the auctions had not listed it on the written off vehicle register. Had we known this beforehand, it could have been presented for just an engine no. check and then been registered without going through all the crap. Double bugger!! Are those clear side-markers on the totaled Elantra, like what you'd see on the Getz? If so, I'm interested in buying.
EDIT: Oh I see it's just had the lens smashed off -------------------- and then I found 5 bucks!

a_v, sorry mate, it is broken.
Looks like it is not going to be possible to fix the broken alloy wheel from the smashed car. In a mad moment yesterday i ordered a set of "Cobalt " machined rims from the tyre shop. went for 16 x 7. Should be fitted early next week. Found that the choice of aftermarket rims to fit these cars was quite limited. Had picked out 3 possible types of rim, but the Cobalt was the only one of the three made in a size to fit the car. This is the "Cobalt "rim ( photo shows 5 studs - but have ordered 4 stud rims ) Rocket. -------------------- 2006 XD 2.0 HVT Auto

Nice surprise at work this morning when the tyre man came over to get the Elantra so that he could fit the new wheels and do a wheel alignment.
Very, very happy with the new wheels. Wanted an appearance such that if the car is sold it can appeal to young or old alike, and also suit the colour of the car. What do you think? The rims are 16x7 and the tyres are 205/50x16. Offset 40mm. Decided on these sizes in order to maintain a good quality ride. The sticky in the wheel and tyres section of the Forum explains which sizes should be used for varying applications. Great advice there. Now i can get on with detailing the car. Are those stock wheels the alloys? They look flatter than mine. -------------------- and then I found 5 bucks!

Hi a_v, Thanks for the compliment. The stock wheels were just the standard steel rims with plastic wheel covers. Glad to see them gone.
The new wheels are Speedy brand. How did you like the grand final today? I thought the pies were hard done by with the umpires. Goddard played a superb game for the saints - should have won the Norm Smith Medal. Pies did not play to their high standards. Hope they do better in the rematch next week. Go Pies!!!!! Though they looked a bit off. I like the look of the stock alloys, but those covers don't do it for me.
As for the grand final, a tie was the last thing I was expecting. The problem was they just couoldn't kick straight. Should have been up by about 4 goals at half time. And that third quarter was shocking. Hopefully we don't see 1977 happen again. I'm sure they can do it next week. -------------------- and then I found 5 bucks!

Happy Birthday a_v
Been a good week. My son managed to score a ticket to the Grand Final replay, accomodation at the Hilton directly opposite the MCG and a plane ticket to Melbourne. The ticket to the game is on Q level - quite often called the FAR Q section, because it is so high up in the stands. Logged onto the Melbourne car auctions today to see if we could find a car that he can drive back from Melbourne to Adelaide on Sunday. Lucked out! Bought 2, a Ford Territory 05 model and also a Hyundai I30. The I30 is 12/09 complianced and only has 9,200 KLM on the odometer. Ripper. Both cars have minor hail damage. Should be easy repairers and a few bob in it for us. He will drive the Territory back on the trade plate and the I30 will come back on a car carrier. The Elantra will have dark Tint fitted on Thursday. Should look neat. We have a friend who Tints the windows on our cars for $200 per car. Does a great job on them too. Long weekend coming up, so i hope to get stuck into polishing the Elantra between hospital visits. 3 days off! Eureka. Have not had a break like this all year. Thanks Rocket!
Be sure to show us some pics of the car when it's tinted. And hope you enjoy the grand final, and that we do better this time! -------------------- and then I found 5 bucks!

I don`t feel as confident this week, we can only hope the pies play as well as they did against Geelong. Maybe Goddard and Hayes will still feel tired! Dane Swan for the Norm Smith Medal! GO PIES!!!! ( PLEEEEAAAASE ) Rocket. -------------------- 2006 XD 2.0 HVT Auto

The windows on the Elantra were tinted today. Cannot drive it yet as the windows need to be kept up for 24 hours or so. Happy with the look. Was in a rush to take some photos this arvo as the car was returned near knock off time. Here they are -
Next up over the weekend is the polishing... finally. Then i will add some chrome bits and pieces as well as the chromed headlights. Rocket. -------------------- 2006 XD 2.0 HVT Auto
