Hey Rocket,
I'm getting me 05 Elantra passenger side resprayed because some idiot thought it would be nice of them to open their XR6 car door into mine. So I'm getting the dent repaired (it's extremely fine, but just bugs me being there) I was wondering is Solid Black (colour code EB) a hard colour to colour match? The place I'm getting it done at offered to repair it for $500 and thats also to do the rear door so it all matches. Is there anything I really should know before getting it done? I'm paranoid im going to get my car back and not matched properly. Thanks heaps! -------------------- 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe Active 2.2 CRDi 6spd Auto, Ocean View 2014 Hyundai i30 elite , 1.6 CRDi, 6spd 5dr Hatch, Dazzling Blue 2009 Hyundai i30cw SX 1.6 CRDi 5spd 4dr Wagon, Hyper Silver 2007 Hyundai Getz S 1.4 DOHC 5spd 5dr Hatch, Blue 2005 Hyundai Elantra elit, 2.0HVT 5spd, 4dr Sedan, Ebony Black 1998 Hyundai Excel GX, 1.5 DOHC, 5spd, 3dr Hatch, Red |

Hi elantraelite, Sorry... I did not see your post as i have not been on for a while. Am guessing that you had the door repaired a long time ago? Colour match for the solid black would have been fine i think. How did it go? Photos? I received an Email from ElantraClub asking why i have not posted lately. Fact is - i feel a bit of an imposter now because i still have not bought another Elantra. Still want one, but we have been very busy and so i have not even been looking for one lately. Better rectify that soon! If it is ok with you, i can post about our Mustang Adventures in the meantime. We have just returned from a 11 day trip to the Mustang Nationals in Newcastle NSW. Here is my favourite photo of the trip - That is our 2 Mach1 Mustangs on the starting grid at Mount Panorama, Bathurst NSW. I hope you all know what Mt Panorama is all about. It is where our main V8 Supercar race is held in October each year. The track is actually a 2 way public road through the year. We stopped off at Bathurst on our way to Newcastle to do a few laps around the mountain. What an absolute thrill for us. In the above photo, we drove the cars onto the starting grid and quickly took a couple of photos, but had to move fast because a bus was coming toward us. The 2 Mach1`s are now registered and on the road.We took them to Newcastle and entered them into the Concours judging. Both cars won Silver awards. We were absolutely stoked! It had been a race to have the red mach1 finished in time for the Nationals. We only just managed to finish it the day before we left. Here are some more photos of our Newcastle trip - http://photobucket.com/sacrewnationals2012 If it interests you, here is a Thread about the red mach1 restoration on the Mustang Owners Club Forum - http://www.mustang.org.au/forum/viewthread.php?tid=15537 Rocket. -------------------- 2006 XD 2.0 HVT Auto

Wow! Thanks for you kind words guys, they are much appreciated. We have had an extremely busy few months. As soon as we returned from the Melbourne trip back in October, we began moving into our new factory/showroom complex - We had simply run out of room in the old place. The offices and wardrobe factory are now all together in the one building, while the cars are in the rear building. We are much more secure too! Great to be able to slide the gate shut when we leave and be reasonably confident that it will all be there the next day. No more graffiti everywhere. We also desperately needed a decent spray booth. One of the first things we did was to buy a used unit and had it installed - This all happened just on the xmas break. We were all looking forward to the holidays, but seemed like they were over too quickly. Started off the new year at the new premises with a bit of a Mustang display - While our new panel beater/ spray painter Luke made himself busy on the red mach1 body, another problem required sorting out. My older and slightly invalid brother was having problems with his house which he was renting. A change of property manager meant that a new non smoking policy was introduced. Steve had succumbed to a life of booze and cigs after 2 ex wives had taken him for everything he had. He was receiving abusive phone calls from the new rental manager "Don`t effing smoke in that house", to which Steve would reply "go and get ......" Steve is too old to change his ways. It was silly really, because Steve is very clean and tidy in his house. To help him out, we decided to invest in a small home for him. Searched and found a slightly run down home nearby. This is it - All my spare time is currently being spent renovating and upgrading the home for him. About 2/3rds the way done now. Will be good to get finished and have a break. Oh.... I told Steve " Smoke as much as you effing well like! " The way he keeps the house clean and tidy, it is not an issue. Some more photos of what i am dealing with - Getting betternow - Next post i will detail the red mach1 resto. Rocket. -------------------- 2006 XD 2.0 HVT Auto

QUOTE Hi elantraelite, Sorry... I did not see your post as i have not been on for a while. Am guessing that you had the door repaired a long time ago? Colour match for the solid black would have been fine i think. How did it go? Photos? No worries mate! I had my Elantra door repaired, The colour match is spot on, I guess solid black is black. However the orange peel is different to the rest of the car... really annoyed with it. I got my Elantra back and it was covered in dust, not even cleaned, inside was covered in white dust. There was over spray on some of the other panels too. I had a detailer come out and fix up the over spray and get it a good polish because the people at the panel shop couldn't polish to save themselves. Anyway, the detailer told me the hairline dent I had could have just been popped out and saved my original paint, so I was a little disappointed after that, but it does look perfect again, dent free! I rarely drive it these days as I drive the Excel everywhere and is covered in dents. I've put about 3,000km on the Elantra this year. -------------------- 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe Active 2.2 CRDi 6spd Auto, Ocean View 2014 Hyundai i30 elite , 1.6 CRDi, 6spd 5dr Hatch, Dazzling Blue 2009 Hyundai i30cw SX 1.6 CRDi 5spd 4dr Wagon, Hyper Silver 2007 Hyundai Getz S 1.4 DOHC 5spd 5dr Hatch, Blue 2005 Hyundai Elantra elit, 2.0HVT 5spd, 4dr Sedan, Ebony Black 1998 Hyundai Excel GX, 1.5 DOHC, 5spd, 3dr Hatch, Red |

Hey Rocket, just wondering where you got the leather wheel rap done for the i30? I have just purchased a run around 05 Elantra and find the feel of the steering wheel a little second rate. Sounds like I am not to far from you.
I have attached a shot of our new run about and my other toy that I have just finished reserrecting. -------------------- A proud member of the club.
