I setup up a wiki system for the club while everyone was gone. For those that don't know what wiki is... Basically it's a system of articles that's a true team effort. I've set it up in many categories/subcategories that new articles can be posted to. Any member can start a new article in any category or subcategory. Then, any other member can add to it, edit it for accuracy, add linked photos.. whatever. The idea is that you're getting a constantly evolving article that has input from a lot of members and the end result (hopefully tongue.gif ) will rock. Just like I've made the DIY's, the Garage, the Reviews etc. a club focal point, I want this Elantrawiki to be the best there is for Elantra (and Hyundai) info. A true knowledgebase.

Just a thought, but - maybe as time becomes available the DIY's could slowly move into the Wiki. The whole EC looks so streamlined, but the DIY still has the older theme. Not only that, but rather than you having to manually add everyone's DIY, if someone has a good one they can just post it. I doubt there would be much abuse of the system... Not here at EC anyway.

Seriously though, I can barely concentrate on work I'm so giddy that we're back online. smile.gif

It's possible down the road, definitely a good thought. sarcasitc-bow.gif I think this ElantraWiki thing will evolve into something very big.

I also have been considering redoing the entire DIY Zone and converting it to the forums format but that's a huge project for another time.

With all due respect, Mitch... don't bother. I think we should just move all that stuff over to the Wiki. This will actually be good because I've been meaning to update the fog light DIY I wrote over at DFWHyundais.com; doing it in a Wiki format might actually be better than trying to salvage the old one.

I would suggest each person who has written a DIY to move theirs over to the Wiki. For new members who want to help, they can check the DIYs and for members that haven't posted in a while, the newer members can work on moving their stuff over to the Wiki.

I would suggest that rather than redoing the old DIY page in the new format, just make it a Wiki front page that has a listing of links to all the DIY Wikis.

Actually... it might be just as easy to make a wiki article with links to the all DIY Zone projects.

I still like them having a distinct and separate area versus being tucked into a wiki.

Wiki? I thought I did that in the first post Bob. laugh.gif Ok basically you'll see the categories I set up. You then go in and write an article (post) in the particular category. Other members (and you) are allowed to go in and edit your article to make it better. They can correct punctuation, add content or delete inaccurate things.. not that you'd be inaccurate! wink.gif You of course can go back and re-edit. Everything in the wiki works this way. It winds up being a collaboration by all members. Makes sense? It's basically going to be an encyclopedia of Elantra and Hyundai information and all the editiors are YOU. By the way. if anyone can think of new categories/subcategories, post them here and I might just add 'em. thumbsup.gif

I'd like to see an editable Wiki for the DIYs for the following reason: There are sometimes DIYs with incorrect information. Rather than bothering you or repeatedly making posts to clear up the info, it would be better to just be able to edit them ourselves.

One for instance is that on several forums (and without checking our DIYs) the DIY for programming a remote is wrong. Anton wrote it just after the release of the 04 models, so he said it applied to all 01-04 Elantras. As it turns out, the ETACS was changed for 04 and for 04-06 Elantras it is not possible for the owner to do the programming. It would be nice if we could correct that information.

Paul, let's just say this.. down the road that's possible. For now I want to get people to know we're starting a Wiki knowlegebase and add articles to it.

Hmmm I'm sure I could peice together a few DIY's and reviews mixed into it from several different ppl on the forum. Take CAI, i could find 5 members that have them, write a DIY for the install and take comments from those 5 members and add them into the post.......watcha think Mitch??
