Hmm... would it be possible to increase your back pressure if you crimped a part of your exhaust? Would that provide more low in power? I got this idea from the genesis coupe I think they have a part of their exhaust that gets smaller... I'm not sure if it's for low end power or not, but maybe... Thanks -- this got me looking and I found and read a few threads on this. Now my brain is tired. One thread... and another. From what I could process of these posts, it's not that backpressure is ever good, it's that a wider exhaust path doesn't always have the desired effect on backpressure in all situations, leading people to think that backpressure is preferred in some situations. In other words, backpressure is never good, but a wider exhaust path doesn't always relieve it as you'd expect. -------------------- A proud member of the club.

Yep bigger is not always better when it comes to exhaust and straight pipes are also not always the best for more power.
VMF what size exhaust do you have on your Honda? I bet its not a 3.5" fart cannon -------------------- 2011 Titanium Gray GLS

its actually a 3 inch one. fart cannon is when you just change the muffler while keeping ur economy engine bone stock.
in my case when the engine revs up to 9500 i better have a way to get rid of all the gases:) i have a 4-2-1 2 inch header that goes into the straight pipe with the resonator @ the back. this is what my baby looks like right now:) -------------------- ___________________________

thank you! getting to this point took me over a year of careful research and parts procurement. quality parts are hard to come by and aint cheap. this whole modification hobby aint cheap (friggin money pit!)
that is the one of the reasons why im leaving elantra the way it is. lack of quality parts for the most part and engine designed for economy, not performance. also lack of any info about the engine online. -------------------- ___________________________

Codemonkey, it's refreshing to see someone who installs a mod and backs it up with data! Thank you for sharing! Please fill out your profile, and it would be great to see a garage entry with your car's full mod list!
