Hi everyone. I'm Cliff and I live halfway between Richmond and Suffolk, Virginia, which happens to be way out in the middle of nowhere.

Just picked up a gray 2013 Elantra sedan GLS on Saturday. Manual transmission, no navigation, no fog lights, no auto-headlights, no bluetooth or steering wheel audio, but I plan to upgrade all that with factory parts to make it all look and work as if they were all original options.

This is my second Hyundai; the first was a 1994 Excel hatchback with a manual transmission. Loved that little car and reluctantly sold it with only 220K miles.

Other changes I have thought about for the car are possibly upgrading the suspension as it feels a little softer in turns that I like, tint the glass and maybe get alloy wheels instead of the steel that are on it now. The speakers absolutely need to be replaced as they factory ones sound somewhat like mud compared to the CDT components that I had before.

So far, I am averaging between 40 and 44 mpg, which is quite nice and is around the same as I was getting with the 2012 Chevy Sonic LT, 1.8L, manual transmission, which I traded in to get this car.

Getting this car really helped. Even with the small amount of negative equity transferred from the previous loan, my new monthly payment is actually less than it was on the Sonic.

I am quite pleased with the car and am getting to like it more as time passes.

Looking forward to reading all the good information on the site and getting answers to any bumps that may come my way.

Cliff

Welcome to EC. Lots of people swap to KYB struts, supposedly it makes a huge difference in handling.

Thanks! I've already been researching and loved using KYB gas on my Daewoo Lanos hatchback (I miss that car, a tree fell on it) in combination with Apex progressive rate springs; that combo made a massive improvement. A friend recommended H&R, but from what people had said on other forums, they made the ride a bit harsh.
